France Home and auto insurance premiums rise in 2027.

France Home and auto insurance premiums rise in 2027. Thu, September 24, 2026 at 8:42 PM GMT-7 · FX Markets · Compiled by Adalytica Engine v1.12 Home and auto insurance premiums in France are set to climb again next year, rising well above inflation as insurers pass on the cost of more frequent and more expensive claims tied to storms, fires, hail and repair inflation. Industry specialists Facts & Figures and Addactis expect homeowners' cover to increase by about 5% to 7% in 2027, while auto insurance is seen rising 3% to 4.5%. In cash terms, the increase works out to roughly 20 euros before tax a year per contract, according to the consultants. Sentiment Indicatorsi Proprietary · adalytica.com · September 25, 2026 This is a snapshot - live sentiment, awareness and momentum for 130+ markets update continuously in the dashboard. Open AlphaPulse The projected hikes come after several years of higher pricing and compare with French inflation running at 2.4% in mid-September. For households, the rise adds another pressure point on disposable income at a time when energy, food and borrowing costs remain elevated. For insurers, the pricing move is less about boosting margins than catching up with loss trends. France Assureurs said rising costs reflect "the ascent and evolution of risks" facing the sector, with claims becoming more frequent and more severe as materials, repairs and services get more expensive. Climate change is deepening the problem. More violent storms and other natural disasters are producing larger losses for homes and vehicles, forcing insurers to reprice risk more aggressively and, in some cases, rebuild underwriting margins after several weak years. That backdrop matters for listed insurers too. Axa has already reported record net profit and is targeting 10 billion euros in earnings, while U.S. peers such as Allstate and Travelers have also been pushing through higher premiums and managing catastrophe exposure. The stock reaction has been mixed, but the broader industry trend remains clear: property and casualty pricing is still adjusting upward as claims costs outpace inflation. Investors will be watching whether the rate increases are enough to offset weather losses and claims inflation without damaging demand or retention. The next catalyst is likely to come from 2027 renewal pricing and any further spike in catastrophe activity. | Entity | Gains | Losses | | Insurers | | Higher premium revenue | | Policyholder pushback | | Households | | Less underinsurance risk | | Higher living costs | | Axa, Allstate, Travelers | | Better pricing power | | Weather-related claims | | Regulators/consumers | | More scrutiny of pricing | | Less affordable coverage |

PIA New York closes staged-accident fraud loophole after years of lobbying.

PIA New York closes staged-accident fraud loophole after years of lobbying. The new statute covers those who orchestrate or invite others into staged schemes, not just those who participate - a gap PIANY had identified as a long-running enforcement problem. New York has passed legislation explicitly extending its insurance fraud statutes to cover individuals who hire, request, encourage, orchestrate or invite others to participate in staged auto accident schemes - closing a loophole the Professional Insurance Agents of New York had pushed to close for years. The association secured the win during a 2026 legislative session it has described as unusually productive despite a late state budget that consumed most of Albany's calendar. PIANY also secured passage of third-party litigation funding regulation requiring greater transparency and fairness in lawsuit lending, and won repeal of a longstanding anti-arson application requirement in New York City that had created ongoing compliance burdens for property owners and agents. The staged-accident win connects to a broader national push. The Stop Auto Fraud Act of 2026, introduced in Congress this month, targets the same schemes at the federal level and carries backing from the American Property Casualty Insurance Association. New York's state-level legislation closes the enforcement gap in the interim. The annual meeting. The legislative wins formed the backdrop to PIANY's annual business meeting, held September 9 at the Albany Hilton, where Jason Bartow was re-elected to a second term as president and Ed Chadwick of Jencap Specialty Insurance Services was elected president-elect, with a full slate of vice presidents, treasurer and secretary also elected for 2026-27. Three insurance professionals received Awards of Distinction at the same meeting. Leslie Driscoll, owner of Tronilo Driscoll Insurance Agency in Ozone Park, received the Professional Agent of the Year award, given to an independent agent who has demonstrated excellence in insurance marketing and service alongside a personal commitment to professionalism and community contribution. Driscoll has served on PIANY's Education, Sponsorship and Conference committees, and her Ozone Park office serves clients across New York City's five boroughs. Robert Rovello, regional director at Travelers, received the Company Person of the Year award, given to individuals who build strong working relationships with agents and brokers. Rovello serves on PIANY's MetroRAP Committee and has worked to strengthen ties between Travelers and the association's independent agency members. Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush received the Distinguished Insurance Service award, presented to individuals with a history of significant contributions to the regional insurance community. Blankenbush has served on the Assembly's insurance committee for years and has maintained a consistently pro-agency record throughout his political career. Maria Thomas, vice president of brokerage sales and client relations for Friedlander Group, was named Committee Chair of the Year for her work chairing PIANY's 2026 MetroRAP Committee. Thomas co-chairs the Long Island Insurance Community, which has raised more than $7 million for Long Islanders in need over the past 30 years, and previously served as president of the Insurance Professionals Association of Long Island.

Travelers appoints Anthony Jabbour to board and audit committee

Travelers Companies appointed Anthony Jabbour to its Board of Directors, where he will serve on the Audit Committee and Risk Committee. Jabbour previously held senior leadership positions at Dun & Bradstreet Holdings and Black Knight. The US-based insurer, with a market capitalisation of approximately $76 billion, provides commercial and personal property and casualty coverage across the United States, Canada, and international markets. Jabbour's background in data-centric businesses aligns with insurers' increasing use of analytics to assess risk and structure products. His appointment suggests Travelers is strengthening its focus on using data and AI tools to refine underwriting and pricing. However, the company faces sector-wide challenges, including analyst expectations for declining earnings and concerns about emerging risks like cyber insurance potentially being underpriced.
