About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 9 years of experience in ASIC physical design, including complex SoC or test-chip implementations at advanced process nodes.
  • Deep expertise in the complete ASIC physical design flow, including floor planning, synthesis, place and route, timing closure, IR-drop and electromigration analysis, and LVS/DRC.
  • Familiarity with IP integration, test-chip methodology, and advanced verification flows.
  • Proficiency with Design Compiler, PrimeTime, IC Compiler II/FC, ICV, Calibre, RedHawk, and FinFET technologies.
  • Experience coordinating complex cross-functional projects and leading technical execution.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to physical design implementation for test chips across DDR, HBM, and UCIe protocols, from RTL through final GDS release to the foundry.
  • Develop floorplan and power/ground strategies for diverse test-chip architectures.
  • Own and optimize the RTL-to-GDSII flow to achieve design convergence for area, power, performance, and manufacturability.
  • Execute and oversee static timing analysis and physical verification, including EM/IR drop, ERC/DRC/LVS, and PERC/ESD analysis.
  • Integrate updated covercells, circuit/IP/PLL/hard macros, and coordinate abutment checking and hard-macro QA and release.
  • Drive tool-flow automation and debugging to improve productivity and design reliability.
  • Collaborate with architecture, RTL, circuit, and covercell teams throughout test-chip development.
  • Prepare and release supporting views and documentation for tape-out, and maintain mask-tooling forms and checklists on foundry portals.

About the Company

Synopsys

EDA software for chip design

Synopsys provides software tools and services for electronic design automation (EDA), helping engineers design, simulate, verify, and optimize semiconductor chips and systems. Its products cover the full design flow, including RTL-to-gating synthesis, place-and-route, timing analysis, verification, and silicon validation, as well as software integrity solutions and hardware-assisted verification. Engineers use these tools to model, simulate, and validate complex chip designs before manufacturing, reducing bugs and improving performance. Compared with many competitors, Synopsys differentiates itself through its broad, end-to-end design toolchain, large ecosystem of IP and integration with simulation and modeling capabilities gained from its 2025 merger with ANSYS, and its global scale and support. The company aims to help designers push the boundaries of chip and system performance, accelerate time-to-market, and enable silicon-to-systems design across a wide range of industries.
