Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of HR experience, with at least 1–2 years supporting retail or hourly employee groups.
  • Strong understanding of employment legislation in Canada; multi-jurisdiction experience is an asset.
  • Experience supporting employee relations, store-level coaching, onboarding, performance conversations, and HR program delivery.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment with agility, resilience, and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Foundational knowledge of performance management, employee relations, employee engagement, workforce planning, and change management.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary People partner for assigned retail stores and build trusted relationships with District Managers, store leaders, and team members.
  • Coach and support retail leaders across performance management, feedback delivery, communication skills, employee development, team dynamics, and day-to-day people decisions.
  • Support employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, policy interpretation, performance concerns, and workplace issues, escalating complex or higher-risk matters when appropriate.
  • Support investigations and maintain clear and appropriate documentation.
  • Help ensure employment practices across assigned stores comply with applicable legislation and align with Knix policies and practices.
  • Partner with Retail leaders on retention, development, and talent movement across the retail network.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and Retail Operations to support hiring, onboarding, and integration of retail team members.
  • Deliver People, learning, performance, engagement, feedback, and recognition programs across stores.
  • Gather feedback from stores and bring forward themes, opportunities, and recommendations to strengthen People programs and the retail employee experience.
  • Use workforce data, employee feedback, and store trends to identify patterns and opportunities involving turnover, retention, attendance, engagement, and staffing.
  • Partner with fellow Business Partners and the broader People Team to create consistency across stores while recognizing the unique needs of different teams and markets.
  • Support organizational changes and People initiatives by helping leaders communicate effectively and navigate their teams through change.
Desired Qualifications
  • CHRP/CHRL designation, or progress toward the designation.
  • Multi-jurisdiction experience with Canadian employment legislation.

Knix appoints Nicole Tapscott as brand president after hitting $730M in sales

Canadian intimates and activewear brand Knix has appointed Nicole Tapscott as brand president, effective 1 August. Tapscott, who joined as chief commercial officer in early 2024, succeeds founder Joanna Griffiths, who is departing following a planned transition. During Tapscott's tenure, Knix doubled its retail store footprint and expanded wholesale partnerships to include Target, Revolve, and Free People. The Knix brand portfolio recently surpassed C$1 billion in cumulative net sales. Before joining Knix, Tapscott served as chief marketing officer at Mejuri and vice president at Casper, where she launched international markets and contributed to the company's IPO. The appointment follows Knix's recent naming of Cyntia Leo as chief marketing officer in May.

Joanna Griffiths, founder and president of $400 million intimates company Knix, has been working with hypnotherapist Grace Smith for five years to manage extreme burnout and work through her fear of failure. The pair meet biweekly for hour-long sessions focusing on business decisions and insecurities. Griffiths launched Knix in Toronto in 2012 and sold 80% of the business to Essity in 2022 for $320 million. Between 2020 and 2022, she endured the pandemic, had three children, raised a $50 million Series B round and completed the sale—all whilst serving as CEO. Diagnosed with extreme burnout in 2024, Griffiths has learned to set boundaries and reject hustle culture.
