Requirements
  • Completion of a Radiology Technologist program is required.
  • ARRT certification is required.
  • MRT certification is required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification is required within 7 days of hire.
  • The technologist must read and comprehend written instructions for imaging orders.
  • The technologist must maintain strict confidentiality.
  • The technologist must be able to work routine rotating on-call hours in a hospital setting.
Responsibilities
  • Complete work in all areas of interventional radiology, including sterile technique, product allocation, positioning, procedure preparation, and technical factors associated with interventional radiology systems.
  • Perform specialized technical skills in vascular, nonvascular, and interventional procedures.
  • Work under the general supervision of a Radiologist in accordance with established protocols.
  • Lead and support operational initiatives and processes to exceed service standards and expectations.
  • Organize, lead, and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
  • Lead quality-control measures for the interventional radiology department, ensuring documentation and follow-through on issues.
  • Lead and complete regular and escalated cases involving invasive procedure diagnosis and treatment.
  • Operate radiographic equipment, including digital vascular imaging systems, interventional computed tomography, and fluoroscopy.
  • Complete procedures using ablation units, multiplanar navigational equipment, and thrombectomy units.
  • Use catheters, guidewires, stents, and other supplies specific to interventional radiology procedures.
  • Prepare sterile trays and catheter insertion sites.
  • Review patient charts and signed consent forms and explain procedure-related indications and contraindications as they relate to patient care when applicable.
  • Maintain the proper working condition of interventional radiology department equipment.
  • Coordinate vendor partnerships for maintenance and repairs and assist leadership with new equipment selection.
  • Manage equipment downtime and service reports.
  • Establish quality-control and quality-assurance protocols as required by JCAHO, ACR, OSHA, TDH, and other applicable agencies.
  • Use EPIC for exam scheduling, patient tracking, film tracking, and proper exam completion.
  • Complete other job-related duties as assigned.
