Dave & Buster's officially opens in monongalia county. Posted: Sep 21, 2026 / 06:16 PM EDT Updated: Sep 21, 2026 / 06:16 PM EDT MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) - Dave and Buster's has officially opened in Westover! The highly anticipated arcade and sports bar held a ribbon-cutting on Monday, with the first 100 guests receiving a free video game play. The facility includes more than 100 different arcade games, a sports bar with TVs and restaurant seating. Guests are able to enjoy the games and receive tickets, which they can exchange for prizes ranging from small things such as lip balm to big prizes like a stuffed animal. 12 News spoke with general manager Robert Gladwell about the importance of bringing the community together with the new location. "Having it here just creates a level of excitement that hasn't really been seen in this area for a while. Just the fact that students who come into WVU from Michigan and Iowa, places like that, this is a place that they recognize they'll be able to come here and feel like they're at home," Gladwell said. Dave and Buster's is located at 228 Brattice Drive and is open every day from 11:00 a.m. to midnight on weekdays and 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. on weekends.

Dave & Buster's new CEO outlines plan to recapture demand amid 2.9% same-store sales decline

Dave & Buster's reported a second-quarter miss, with same-store sales declining 2.9% and adjusted EBITDA falling 18% short of consensus at $98.9 million. Revenue totalled $544.1 million, down 2.4% year-over-year. New CEO Darin Harper, who stepped up from CFO last month, acknowledged the brand hasn't consistently been "the obvious answer" for customers planning entertainment outings. With 184 locations and customers visiting less than twice yearly, the company faces challenges in delivering consistent value and experiences. Food and beverage comps rose 7.6% for the fifth consecutive quarter, whilst entertainment business remained weak with high-single-digit declines. Trends improved in July, with same-store sales of negative 1.6% versus negative 5% in June. Harper said future success depends on capturing demand around personal, seasonal, and cultural occasions.

Stock market today: Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq fall as oil surges and Fed decision looms.

Stock market today: Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq fall as oil surges and Fed decision looms. 58 3 minutes read U.S. stocks moved lower on Tuesday as another surge in oil prices and stubbornly high Treasury yields kept investors on edge ahead of the Federal Reserve's closely watched rate decision. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell about 0.7%, while the S&P 500 dropped roughly 0.4% and the Nasdaq Composite slid 0.6%, with technology stocks once again facing some of the heaviest pressure. The cautious session comes as Brent crude surged back above $108 per barrel and WTI climbed toward $105 amid worsening supply disruptions in the Middle East. Meanwhile, the 10-year Treasury yield continued hovering around 5%, leaving investors caught between an energy-driven inflation threat, elevated borrowing costs, and uncertainty over what the Fed will signal Wednesday. Market movers: * Radiant Logistics (RLGT) +17%: Shares surged after fiscal fourth-quarter revenue climbed 18.6% from a year ago, while adjusted net income increased 34.5% and adjusted EBITDA jumped 31.6%. The logistics company entered fiscal 2027 with no net debt and expanded its acquisition capacity after amending its $200 million revolving credit facility. * Waystar (WAY) +10%: Shares rallied following a report that the healthcare software provider is exploring strategic alternatives, including a potential sale that could take it private. Waystar has reportedly hired Evercore to advise on the early-stage process after its market value fell to roughly $4.8 billion amid this year's broader software selloff. * Enova International (ENVA) -25%: Shares plunged after the financial services company withdrew regulatory applications tied to its proposed acquisition of Grasshopper Bancorp, citing a lack of clear regulatory standards for nonbanks seeking to become banks. Enova maintained its third-quarter and full-year growth forecasts and said it plans to accelerate share repurchases, with $349 million remaining under its authorization as of June 30. * Dave & Buster's Entertainment (PLAY) -15%: Shares sank after rising food, beverage, payroll and pre-opening costs contributed to an unexpected second-quarter loss of $0.27 per share, compared with expectations for a $0.19 profit. Revenue declined 2.4% from a year earlier and adjusted EBITDA dropped to $98.9 million from $129.8 million as weaker comparable sales and higher expenses squeezed profitability. * Circle Internet Group (CRCL) -8%: Shares tumbled as fading hopes for comprehensive U.S. digital asset legislation triggered broad selling across crypto-linked stocks, while Bitcoin dropped nearly 3%. Coinbase, Strategy, Robinhood and several crypto miners also declined as investors reassessed the likelihood of near-term regulatory clarity for the industry. * Sysco (SYY) -3%: Shares fell after the foodservice distributor priced roughly 12.34 million common shares at $81 apiece, raising approximately $1 billion in gross proceeds. Sysco plans to use the funds to help finance its pending acquisition of Jetro Restaurant Depot, with underwriters receiving an option to purchase up to another $150 million of shares. Oil surges as Middle East supply risks grow. Energy markets remained one of Wall Street's biggest concerns Tuesday. Brent crude climbed more than 3% to nearly $109 per barrel, while WTI traded above $103 as markets reacted to the shutdown of Saudi Arabia's critical East-West pipeline and continued attacks on regional energy infrastructure. The physical market is showing even greater stress. Dated Brent, which is used to price much of the world's physical crude supply, reportedly traded above $130 per barrel as disruptions tightened available supplies. Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline has become particularly important because of its capacity to move as much as 7 million barrels per day away from the Persian Gulf. Treasury yields stay near 5% ahead of the Fed. Bond markets are adding another layer of pressure. The 10-year Treasury yield remained near 5% after briefly reaching its highest intraday level since 2007 overnight, reflecting persistent concerns about inflation, government borrowing and the outlook for interest rates. The Fed begins its two-day September meeting Tuesday, with markets overwhelmingly expecting policymakers to raise rates. Investors will be watching Wednesday's updated dot plot and Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's press conference closely for clues about whether policymakers see further tightening beyond September. Crypto slides as regulatory hopes fade. Crypto added another pocket of weakness Tuesday, with Bitcoin falling roughly 3% ahead of a key Senate procedural vote on digital asset legislation. Expectations that the measure can advance have deteriorated as lawmakers struggle to secure the votes needed to overcome a filibuster. That uncertainty weighed heavily on Circle and other crypto-linked stocks. Investors had increasingly viewed regulatory clarity as a potential catalyst for wider institutional adoption, making the prospect of legislation being delayed beyond the midterm elections another setback for the sector. Looking ahead. Wednesday's Fed decision is now firmly at the center of the market's attention. A rate hike is widely expected, leaving investors more focused on the Fed's projections and whether policymakers signal that stubborn inflation and soaring energy prices could require additional tightening. Oil may ultimately prove just as important. With Brent near $109, physical crude prices considerably higher and a major Saudi pipeline offline, any further deterioration in Middle East supplies could intensify inflation concerns, push Treasury yields higher and make an already difficult backdrop for stocks even more challenging.

(NASDAQ: PLAY) reported a Q2 2026 adjusted loss of $0.27 per share as the entertainment and dining chain faced headwinds in both traffic and spending. The company posted an adjusted net loss of $9.5M for the second quarter of 2026. Revenue totaled $544.1M for the quarter, down 2.4% year-over-year from $557.4M in Q2 2025. The company's entertainment segment, which includes arcade games and virtual reality experiences, generated $332.6M in revenue for the quarter. Dave & Buster's operated 250 company-owned stores at quarter end as it continues to navigate a challenging environment for experiential entertainment venues. The chain has built its business model around combining restaurant service with arcade-style gaming and sports viewing, competing for discretionary consumer spending in an increasingly crowded leisure marketplace. Wall Street analysts maintain a cautious stance on the stock, with consensus at 6 buy ratings, 9 hold ratings, and 0 sell ratings. Dave & Buster's Entertainment Q2 earnings call highlights.

Dave & Buster's Entertainment Q2 earnings call highlights. Posted by Don Miller on Sep 15th, 2026 Dave & Buster's Entertainment (NASDAQ:PLAY) reported lower second-quarter revenue and earnings but said same-store sales trends improved during July and the early weeks of its third quarter as the company pursues a "back-to-basics" strategy centered on traffic, value and store execution. Nasdaq stock updates Revenue for the second quarter was $544.1 million, down from $557.4 million a year earlier. Company-wide same-store sales declined 2.9%, an improvement from the 5.4% decline reported in the first quarter. Interim CFO Cory Hatton said sales trends improved further in July, when same-store sales were down 1.6%, compared with a 5% decline in June. Discover more Stock investment guide Financial Markets News Financial news subscription The company recorded a GAAP net loss of $12.5 million, or $0.36 per diluted share, compared with net income of $11.4 million, or $0.32 per diluted share, in the prior-year period. Adjusted EBITDA declined to $98.9 million, representing an 18.2% margin, from $129.7 million and a 23.3% margin a year earlier. Food and beverage growth offsets some entertainment weakness. CEO Darin Harper said the company's food-and-beverage comparable sales rose 7.6% in the second quarter, marking its fifth consecutive quarter of growth in that category. Special-events sales have increased for seven straight quarters, he added. Harper attributed food-and-beverage momentum primarily to a return to what he called a proven menu, improved execution of the company's Eat & Play Combo and higher food-and-beverage attachment among gaming customers. The company also plans to raise awareness of its food-and-beverage offerings and take what Harper described as strategic, consistent inflationary price increases. Sports viewing remains another area of focus. Harper said more than half of guests identify football, basketball or baseball among the sports they watch, while more than 90% of guests who watch sports at a food or bar venue order food and more than 80% order alcohol. He said the company produced double-digit sales growth during activated World Cup matches, including the tournament final. "We are a perfect occasion for that type of experience," Harper said of the World Cup activations, which included themed food, reskinned games, prize integration and ticketed events. Strategy focuses on occasions, relevance and value. Harper said the company is maintaining the core of its back-to-basics plan while providing a more detailed framework for execution. The strategy centers on capturing existing demand around personal, seasonal and cultural occasions; offering relevant entertainment and food-and-beverage choices; and delivering a consistent value message and guest experience. He said Dave & Buster's has high brand awareness but has not consistently been the "obvious answer" for guests planning an outing. The company intends to shift away from what Harper described as large, disconnected "tent pole" campaigns and place greater emphasis on targeted marketing around seasonal and cultural moments. Dave & Buster's appointed Jeremy Tucker as chief marketing officer during the second quarter after operating for more than a year without a CMO, according to Harper. The company also recently named Amanda Busby chief operations officer, Kevin Fish chief technology and digital officer, and Rachel Morgan chief legal administrative officer and corporate secretary. Aldo Rosales was promoted to chief strategy and revenue management officer. On the entertainment side, the company launched 10 new games and attractions so far this year, including titles connected to The Mandalorian and Grogu, John Wick, Stranger Things and Hot Wheels. Management said it is also developing a plan to address consumer demand for collectibles through merchandise, prize offerings and midway games. Harper said the company simplified its Power Card rate card and adjusted game pricing in recent months to make the experience easier to understand and allow guests to play longer. Those changes have produced a 16% to more than 20% increase in gameplay and dwell time, he said, while maintaining basket size and margins through redemption payouts and Winner's Circle pricing. Cost and capital discipline remain priorities. Hatton said second-quarter EBITDA comparisons included several items that were not repeated or were higher than normal, including a $10 million non-cash deferral adjustment in the prior year, $3 million in higher pre-opening expenses and about $2 million in non-normalized insurance expense growth. Excluding those items, adjusted EBITDA would have declined by approximately $16 million year over year, he said. The company said adjusted free cash flow was positive $19.5 million through the second quarter, compared with negative $36.5 million in the prior-year period. Cash from operations increased to $160.6 million from $129.8 million, while net capital expenditures declined to $127.6 million from $155.4 million. Management remains on pace to spend less than $200 million in net capital expenditures during fiscal 2026. Harper said the company could spend about $150 million or less in fiscal 2027, depending on opportunities to invest in games, technology and the existing store base. Hatton said recurring capital needs, including game refreshes, are approximately $95 million to $100 million annually. * Dave & Buster's opened six domestic stores in the second quarter, bringing its first-half total to seven: five Dave & Buster's locations and two Main Event locations. * The company plans to open four additional domestic stores during the remainder of fiscal 2026 and five in fiscal 2027. * It operated 250 company-owned stores at quarter-end, including 184 Dave & Buster's locations and 66 Main Event locations, along with six international franchise stores. * Six Dave & Buster's remodels were completed during fiscal 2026, with two additional remodels planned for the second half. Hatton said the company has identified $15 million in savings expected to be realized over the next 12 months, primarily from areas that should not affect the guest experience, including general and administrative overhead, information technology systems, insurance and vendor arrangements. He said management sees a path to at least double that amount in additional savings. Harper said the company expects its initiatives to support improving same-store sales, revenue and EBITDA in the near term, while acknowledging that the business still faces a difficult consumer environment and has more work to do on traffic, affordability and service consistency.
