Requirements
- Five or more years of experience with industrial heavy equipment, including hydraulic equipment, diesel engines and compressors, high-pressure water pumps, drill units, diesel trucks, crawlers, and pumps.
- Ability to organize work diligently, make decisions, and set priorities.
- A valid driver's license.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A license as a Heavy Duty Mechanic (Journeyman).
Responsibilities
- Disassemble and reassemble components such as engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel and exhaust systems, brakes, clutches, differentials, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and lubrication systems.
- Inspect and test drill units, diesel compressors, hydraulic support equipment, and high-pressure water pumps to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repairs required.
- Perform duties ranging from routine preventive maintenance to repairing major breakdowns, including troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Contribute to the development of apprentices and work as part of a team to accomplish maintenance goals and targets.
- Service attachments and working tools.
- Verify and repair emission control systems.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working on drilling equipment.
- Interprovincial trade qualifications in Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics, including Red Seal Certification.
