Requirements
  • An Associate's Degree is required.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse is required.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state is required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification or American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
  • The role requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods, perform manual dexterity and fine motor tasks, lift and move patients or medical equipment, read medical charts and monitors, communicate effectively, perceive alarms and patient instructions, tolerate long shifts and stressful situations, navigate clinical environments, and comply with infection control protocols and personal protective equipment requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Directs and leads assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age- and developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Provides patient- and family-centered care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
  • Performs nursing diagnoses, identifies outcomes, plans and implements interventions, coordinates care, provides health teaching and promotion, and evaluates goals and interventions in accordance with MUSC policies.
  • Maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment by ensuring patient privacy and responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior.
  • Participates in shared governance, adheres to standards of care, participates in peer review and professional development, promotes leadership and clinical excellence, practices effective teamwork and autonomy, remains accountable for actions, and applies critical thinking.
  • Coordinates effective and efficient delivery of patient care services through care management principles, identifies clinical priorities, and initiates actions to improve patient outcomes.
  • Promotes a healthy work environment and accepts personal responsibility for professional growth.
