- One year of MRI experience is preferred, not required.
- Completion of Point of Care Testing training is required as part of Department Orientation.

- Knowledge and experience with electronic health records.
- ARRT-MR credential in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
- Associate degree in a related field.
- Review consultation requests and check for special instructions from the requesting physician; consult with the radiologist or referring physician's office as necessary.
- Greet patients, confirm their identification, and introduce yourself.
- Explain examination procedures completely to patients and their families when present.
- Maintain complete working knowledge of all equipment in the MRI department.
- Prepare and administer contrast media for injection and review pertinent forms.
- Perform MRI procedures according to established protocols.
- Maintain a daily activities log.
- Store and order supplies, and monitor and report shortages and special-order items.
- Perform visual preventive safety inspections and conduct quality assurance tests on equipment in accordance with American College of Radiology regulations.
- Identify equipment or procedural problems and communicate them to the immediate supervisor.
- Evaluate recorded images for technical quality.
- Demonstrate the anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning.
- Recognize emergency situations, initiate code procedures, and administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation as needed.
- Complete follow-up documentation, including contrast reaction forms, extravasation reports, and Safety Tracking Tools.
- Use appropriate telephone etiquette.
- Coordinate scheduling with other departments to ensure patient flow.
- Assist scheduling clerks with decisions about non-routine examinations.
- Order examinations, track patient data, scan documents, and make copies of examinations as requested.
