Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field and five years of purchasing, contracting, business management, or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of the overall purchasing process, strategic sourcing, and e-commerce.
  • Advanced understanding of administering a portfolio of contracts for products and services and conducting related supplier management activities.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative modeling skills, including the ability to structure, collect, analyze, and communicate internal and external data or information in an organized manner.
  • Residency in the state of Georgia is required.
  • The role requires the ability to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.
Responsibilities
  • Develop commodity business plans in response to business needs and create commodity teams across the Emory community to drive spend leverage.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for managed commodities, including competitive landscape analysis, technology direction, supplier analysis, supplier development and selection, pricing strategy, and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Ensure timely negotiation of all agreements.
  • Lead escalation and problem resolution relating to suppliers, pricing, continuous improvement, and contract or agreement interpretation.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews with key suppliers.
  • Lead a cross-functional strategic team that includes internal customers, finance, and suppliers.
  • Complete the annual supplier evaluation process and execute formal supplier development plans.
  • Initiate contact with internal and external interface partners to recognize developments and exert influence accordingly.
  • Develop reports of complex information and figures to make results transparent and control purchasing activities on a results-oriented basis.
  • Guide the development, communication, and deployment of complex procurement strategies.
  • Perform related responsibilities as required.
