Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management.
  • Heavy/highway project management experience is required.
  • A minimum of 5–8 years of project experience in heavy/highway construction is required.
  • Familiarity with grading, drainage, paving including asphalt and concrete, bridge construction, retaining walls, and other highway construction scopes.
  • Strong team-building skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and oversee the building process of various construction projects from start to finish.
  • Manage complex and detailed construction projects while maintaining schedules and meeting client needs from project start through closeout.
  • Lead and guide the project team in assigned duties, communication, and documentation.
  • Perform contract review, pre-construction planning, procurement, project scheduling, cost projections, and document control.
  • Provide overall direction, completion, and financial management for construction projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other project personnel.
  • Choose subcontractors and delegate responsibilities.
  • Maintain overall responsibility for project safety, quality, and budget.
  • Prepare project status reports and ensure work adheres to contract specifications.
  • Communicate district and corporate information to the project team and keep the Office Manager and General Manager updated.
  • Direct and supervise project administration, project superintendents, and engineers to establish operating priorities and maintain satisfactory relationships.
  • Establish, define, and promote values, expectations, and performance standards for team and individual members in accordance with the company's mission, vision, and values.
  • Create and execute project work plans.
  • Ensure complete project solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Assist the Operations Manager with project needs.
  • Manage project costs and program documentation.
  • Oversee subcontractor management.
  • Coach and develop staff.
  • Implement and monitor safety and hazard communication programs.
  • Monitor quality control and work in tandem with the Site Superintendent.
