Requirements
  • Associate degree in Automated Manufacturing, Electro Mechanical Technology, or Electrical Engineering Technology, or eight years of advanced programmable logic controller, human-machine interface, supervisory control and data acquisition programming, and system startup experience.
  • A valid state driver’s license and satisfactory driving record are required.
  • Proficiency in using a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with programmable logic controller program development and human-machine interface/supervisory control and data acquisition development.
  • Availability for an after-hours on-call rotation.
  • Availability to work between 6 AM and 6 PM, Monday through Friday, with schedules that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Authorization to work for any employer in the United States.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug test.
Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and support automation and process control systems projects, including new installations, modifications, and customer support.
  • Methodically approach process startup.
  • Assess and troubleshoot service needs under stressful conditions, including complicated systems and intermittent issues.
  • Troubleshoot and solve issues that less senior Automation Engineers have struggled with.
  • Work with the team and provide direction to less senior Automation Engineers.
  • Lead and provide input to team brainstorming activities to contribute to solutions and options.
  • Establish the best option and path forward for the team and customer.
  • Work independently or with a team on advanced-level project assignments.
  • Work directly with Systems Architects, Project Engineers, and customers, and delegate work to other Automation Engineers.
  • Quality-check other Automation Engineers’ work for accuracy, functionality, and completeness.
  • Provide programming and commissioning support and own startup and project scope.
  • Provide mentoring to less experienced Automation Engineers and conflict-resolution assistance in the field.
  • Provide quality-control feedback to other Automation Engineers independently of project assignment.
  • Support and contribute to code streamlining and code-library development.
  • Support adoption and continued use of automation code standards.
  • Participate in continued education efforts.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
