Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of an accredited medical assisting certification program with current certification is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required.
  • Knowledge and skills to provide patient services appropriate to the ages served are required.
  • Proficiency with computer skills for chart completion is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with and enhance patient relations are required.
  • Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of hire; it is not required to start.
Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care in accordance with the organization's mission, strategic goals, applicable laws and regulations, performance objectives, and accreditation standards.
  • Work with patients of all ages.
  • Maintain working relationships with department and other organizational departments to resolve operational problems and use resources effectively in delivering quality patient care.
  • Check patients in by taking vital signs, documenting pain, medications, allergies, reasons for visits, and other required flow sheets.
  • Complete appropriate electronic health record templates.
  • Review patient charts for outstanding laboratory results, X-ray results, or medical visits since the last appointment.
  • Review patient medications and pend refills.
  • Manage electronic health record inboxes as assigned.
  • Assist clinicians during examinations and perform treatments, procedures, and waived laboratory testing within the scope of competency and training.
  • Administer medications as ordered by clinicians and according to organizational policy and protocol.
  • Stock and clean examination rooms, examination tables, and other furniture with appropriate cleansing agents according to protocol.
  • Perform quality-control duties regularly in accordance with regulatory and department policies.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and supplies and practice safety, environmental, and infection-control methods.
  • Run electronic health record reports according to protocol.
  • Travel to various clinic locations as needed.
  • Support clinic compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and organizational rules, regulations, protocols, and procedures governing clinical medical services, workplace safety, public health, and confidentiality.
  • Participate in continuous quality-improvement efforts designed to improve patient outcomes.
  • Consult with clinical teams and direct and indirect clinical support staff to develop and implement policies and procedures that maximize patient-centered communication and services.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of patient information in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Report building and equipment problems through appropriate channels.
  • Perform clerical duties and department-related tasks assigned by the supervisor in a continuously changing medical practice.
  • Attend staff meetings, department meetings, and other required meetings.
