Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Conduct one-on-one advising sessions with pre-health students to help them plan and optimize academic coursework and meet prerequisites for healthcare programs.
  • Provide specialized individual advising for Pre-Med, Pre-Vet, Pre-PA, Pre-Podiatry, Pre-Dentistry, and Pre-Pharmacy tracks.
  • Assess students' interests, strengths, and career goals to recommend suitable healthcare fields and specializations.
  • Assist students with applications to medical, dental, veterinary, and physician assistant schools and programs, including portfolio building, personal statements, curricula vitae, and evaluator letters.
  • Stay current on admission requirements, prerequisites, and selection criteria for health professional schools.
  • Write committee letters for pre-health students' professional school applications.
  • Draft and initiate correspondence, develop agendas, maintain calendars, compile reference materials, and coordinate and attend meetings with the Office of Admissions, Central Advising, and relevant departments in consultation with the Director and Program Manager.
  • Assist with facilitating events, professional development activities, undergraduate peer mentoring, medical school student mentoring, and academic support activities across the University.
  • Coordinate the collection, compilation, and analysis of activity data; draft statistical and narrative program reports and evaluations; monitor program effectiveness; and suggest revisions as necessary.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with cross-departmental personnel from diverse offices and programs.
  • A master's degree in STEM or science education is preferred.
  • Prior experience with program coordination or administration is preferred.
