About the Job

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field is required.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in hardware development for complex embedded or cyber-physical systems, including at least 3 years in a hardware architecture, lead engineer, or staff engineer role.
  • A proven track record of defining and delivering multidisciplinary hardware system architectures from concept through EVT/DVT and production for products combining high-speed compute, power electronics, and real-time sensing.
  • Deep understanding of embedded compute platforms, including ARM Cortex-A/M, NVIDIA Jetson class, and FPGA/eFPGA, and trade-offs between centralized and distributed compute topologies.
  • Strong command of power system architecture, including multi-rail SMPS design, battery/BMS integration, load analysis, power sequencing, and system-level EMC mitigation.
  • Experience defining communication backbone architectures for real-time distributed systems using EtherCAT, CAN-FD, TSN Ethernet, SpaceWire, or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with functional safety standards and ability to translate safety requirements into hardware architecture constraints, including redundancy, monitoring, and safe states.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing and design for test in high-volume hardware, including making architecture choices that remain manufacturable and testable at scale.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills to represent hardware architecture in discussions with product management, AI/software architects, supply chain, and executive leadership.
  • Fluent English.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the top-level hardware architecture of the robot platform, including compute topology, power architecture, communication backbone, and sensing architecture.
  • Translate product, performance, and safety requirements into hardware requirements; partition functionality across electronics, embedded software, and mechanical subsystems; and manage technical interfaces between hardware disciplines.
  • Lead hardware architecture reviews and define and enforce hardware design standards, interface control documents, and design rules across electronics, firmware, and mechanical teams.
  • Evaluate and select key platform components, including compute SoCs, power management ICs, communication controllers, and sensor ICs, balancing performance, availability, non-recurring engineering cost, and long-term scalability.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface between the hardware team and software/AI architecture teams, ensuring the hardware platform provides capabilities that meet AI inference and real-time control requirements.
  • Ensure architectural decisions support high-volume manufacturing and drive design-for-reliability, design-for-testability, and design-for-cost principles.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to senior electronics, firmware, and system engineers; support hiring and team growth in the hardware domain.

Desired Qualifications

  • A PhD is a plus but is not required.
  • Experience in robotics, automotive (ADAS/body electronics), aerospace, or industrial automation hardware is strongly preferred.
  • German is a practical advantage.

About the Company

Neura Robotics

Cognitive robots with perception, manipulation, collaboration

Neura Robotics builds cognitive robots for industrial and service settings, combining perception, manipulation, and human collaboration. It develops both the hardware and the software stack for Physical AI, creating robot platforms like MAiRA, MAV, LARA and MiPA along with training infrastructure. The system works by integrating sensing, decision-making, and manipulation capabilities on a hardware-software stack that can be deployed in large-scale production, with the company planning robots fleets and NEURA Gyms for ongoing training and improvement. What sets Neura Robotics apart is its end-to-end approach to Physical AI, including a focus on mass production, an established global deployment plan, and a broad ecosystem of strategic backers and partners that support scaling and international expansion. The goal is to enable worldwide deployment of its robot platforms and associated training infrastructure, turning physical AI into widely available industrial and service automation.
