Requirements
  • A doctorate is required.
  • Five years of combined teaching experience and experience in curriculum development and administration are required.
  • A current unencumbered state professional registered nurse license or enhanced compact nurse licensure relevant to the state of teaching location is required, subject to state Board of Nursing or Board of Registered Nursing regulations where the student is located.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director of Academic Operations and campus leadership on policy making, planning, implementation, and evaluation of campus activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate direct reports, including nursing faculty, the clinical coordinator, and the director of simulation.
  • Ensure compliance of the nursing program with State Board of Nursing requirements and prepare required Board reports and data.
  • Represent the nursing program at meetings of appropriate bodies, including the Board of Nursing.
  • Submit information for preparation of the annual operating and capital budget.
  • Provide leadership to faculty in preparation for the accreditation self-study.
  • Prepare and maintain statistics related to program outcomes and maintain relevant program records.
  • Manage direct reports, including conducting one-on-one meetings, quarterly check-ins, performance management, and training and development.
  • Promptly notify the direct manager and appropriate corporate stakeholders of legal issues.
  • Notify the manager of personnel changes at the management level.
  • Provide leadership to build employee morale.
  • Directly supervise the Assistant Dean of Nursing when the student threshold is met.
  • Directly or indirectly supervise the Clinical Coordinator and ensure clinical coordination complies with clinical scheduling practices, the state consortium, and Board of Nursing requirements.
  • Evaluate the appropriateness of clinical facilities and curricular experiences with the clinical coordinator, faculty, and facilities.
  • Ensure a sufficient supply of direct patient care hours to deliver the nursing curriculum.
  • Monitor students’ compliance with health regulations in partnership with the Clinical Coordinator and serve as liaison to the Board of Health as needed.
  • Oversee the Health and Safety Orientation for students progressing to the Core.
  • Appoint, retain, and promote faculty, including general education faculty when applicable.
  • Manage the faculty hiring process, including interviews, teaching presentations, and reference checks.
  • Coordinate the orientation and onboarding process for adjunct and full-time faculty, including computer and information technology training and Assessment Technologies Institute training and education.
  • Guide faculty on academic issues and the development of Assessment Technologies Institute methodologies for classroom instruction.
  • Develop faculty workload schedules and ensure office hours, committee service, and full-time faculty annual credit-hour assignments are fulfilled.
  • Make assignments for adjunct clinical faculty directly or indirectly.
  • Ensure each nursing student has a faculty advisor.
  • Work with faculty to ensure appropriate content delivery, concept sequencing, and response to student performance on standardized exams.
  • Resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Ensure meaningful faculty development and mentoring resources that support program outcomes and faculty growth.
  • Prepare and manage Core Nursing Orientation for Level 5 students.
  • Advise students and resolve student problems.
  • Coordinate activities related to student admission, retention, progression, and graduation.
  • Work with academic leadership to align the student experience with outcomes and mission and maximize student achievement and satisfaction.
  • Serve as liaison to Assessment Technologies Institute for scheduling live reviews and services.
  • Assess course outcomes and teaching strategies with Assessment Technologies Institute and faculty using Assessment Technologies Institute data.
  • Facilitate textbook and media selection.
  • Ensure appropriate textbook ordering and student textbook distribution with the BSN Program Manager.
  • Review and address findings from end-of-course evaluations.
  • Collaborate with the Dean of General Education to align liberal arts and nursing curricula, facilitate joint in-service offerings, hold regular joint meetings, and provide quarterly departmental updates.
  • Recommend supplies and equipment purchases for the nursing program.
  • Collaborate with the Nursing Lab Manager to ensure laboratories are maintained and meet equipment standards.
  • Chair monthly nursing faculty meetings and, in the absence of a Dean of General Education, chair general education faculty meetings.
  • Serve as an ex-officio member of all nursing program committees.
  • Serve on the BSN Curriculum Committee, Community Advisory Council, Academic Affairs Committee, and Systematic Evaluation Plan Committee.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
