About the job
- At least 2 years of underground experience.
- Hold an MSHA Certified Electrical Card and an Illinois Electrical Certificate.
- Review and understand permissibility requirements.
- Use proper splicing and troubleshooting techniques for underground cables.
- Service all face equipment to fit the mining cycle.
- Read electrical prints for equipment.
- Perform chain and crawler maintenance.
- Use proper cribbing and blocking techniques.
- Operate all face equipment.
- Maintain the carbon monoxide monitor and communications.
- Troubleshoot and install leaky feeder and fiber optic cables.
- Test fire suppression systems.
- Downshift by changing major components on all equipment.
- Understand and service longwall mining equipment.
- Understand the basics of the CAT CST system.
- Fix sensors on shield electrics and troubleshoot electrical systems.
- Grease all appropriate components.
- Understand the tailgate tension cylinder and its correct operation.
- Change the backflush filter and water pump filters.
- Experience in a wide range of maintenance, including preventive maintenance and mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting.
