Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Meet all the requirements mandated by the Dental Board of California for obtaining a Registered Dental Assistant license
  • Valid Dental Board of California Registered Dental Assistant license
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid Sealant certification
  • Valid lifesaving certification
  • Minimum 5 years of Registered Dental Assisting experience
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations
  • Knowledge and understanding of community health centers mission and role
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Able to quickly build and maintain rapport with patients and providers of differing backgrounds; team player

Responsibilities
  • Provide support for the dental department and ensure proper communication is given to the Dental Assistant Supervisor
  • Proactively manages provider appointment schedules to ensure provider templates are correctly applied and ensures provider appointments are scheduled appropriately
  • Works alongside the Dental Assistant Supervisor to provide appropriate training and staff development as needed at their assigned health center
  • Require that RDA and DA functions be performed daily
  • Performs and coordinates site audits/visits (formal and informal) between clinical and operations to ensure readiness for site audits/visits (OSHA, Delta Dental etc.)
  • Provides prompt dental support; promotes a smooth patient flow; collects and records data accurately; maintains order of the back office, equipment, and supplies
  • Works flexible or extended hours where necessary
  • Participates in health center in-services and meeting, listening and respecting others' ideas
  • Abides by Rules of Confidentiality
  • Reviews provider schedules and productivity measures and guides the dental team to achieve compliance with UHC directives
  • Will work closely with the dentist and dental staff to ensure smooth patient flow and the effective delivery of services
  • Assumes other responsibilities as directed by Dental Assistant Supervisor
  • Oversees ordering of dental department supplies and maintenance of dental equipment for dental department. Performs RDA 1 and DA functions daily
  • Takes lead of the RDA column and assists in performing all treatment under the RDA scope
  • The RDA will identify the treating provider for the visit and work with the site providers who will be managing the overall visits
  • Child wellness integration with Medical. The RDA will work closely with Medical and promote warm handoffs from Medical to Dental the same day of the child wellness exam
  • The RDA will review the patients which are scheduled in their RDA column and ensure that the patients are there for appropriate services: TYKE recall exams at appropriate frequency, 6-12 years old Child recall exams and bundled Prophy, Patients should have had a Comp or Recall exam within 6-9 months with no outstanding treatment, Sealants, Temporary Crown
  • The RDA will assist in RDA specific duties when a provider’s RDA is unavailable as possible
  • The RDA will chart in the note templates prior to the dentist reviewing
