About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Law, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required.
  • A postgraduate qualification such as an MBA or Master’s is a plus.
  • A professional financial crime or compliance certification, such as ICA Diploma, ACAMS (CAMS), or equivalent in AML, sanctions, or financial crime prevention, is a strong plus.
  • At least 10 years of total professional experience, including at least 6 years in product management and 3 or more years at lead or principal level owning a revenue-bearing product line end to end.
  • Substantial experience in banking, payments, or financial services, ideally in financial crime compliance (AML/CFT, KYC/KYB, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring) or in a RegTech serving those institutions.
  • A proven track record of taking a compliance, risk, or data product from strategy through discovery and delivery to commercialization, with measurable revenue, adoption, or retention outcomes.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, set the agenda, prioritize across competing demands, and drive decisions to closure across functions and time zones.
  • Experience owning pricing and packaging for B2B products, including combined subscription and per-unit or consumption models, and defending commercial cases to an executive audience.
  • Experience with data-intensive products, including entity and counterparty master data, third-party data providers, screening and matching engines, and false-positive economics.
  • Experience working directly with enterprise customers’ Compliance, Risk, and Legal functions, including at Head of Compliance and executive level.
  • Experience delivering in an agile, remote-first, geographically distributed engineering environment.
  • Deep working knowledge of AML/CFT, KYC and KYB, sanctions regimes (OFAC, EU, UN, UK OFSI), PEP and adverse media screening, and the evidentiary standard expected of due diligence reporting.
  • Understanding of regulatory and audit drivers affecting customer buying decisions, including data protection (GDPR), information security (ISO 27001), record retention, and auditability.
  • Ability to set, evidence, and defend a multi-year product strategy; size opportunities bottom-up from usage and billing data; and identify work that will not be built.
  • Strong discovery and definition skills, including customer research, problem framing, and writing requirements clearly enough for engineers to build without rework.
  • Commercial fluency in unit economics, pricing, margin, and business cases, and ability to work with Sales on named-account expansion and new-logo acquisition.
  • Data literacy, including the ability to interrogate product, usage, and billing data directly using SQL or business intelligence tools.
  • Technical fluency to hold design conversations with senior engineers about APIs, integrations, data models, and screening pipelines.
  • Working knowledge of agile delivery frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe is expected.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, including writing board-quality papers and running customer workshops.
  • Ability to influence across engineering, compliance operations, sales, customer success, and finance without authority, and to hold a position under executive challenge.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed, organized, and decisive manner in ambiguity, with judgment about when to escalate.
Responsibilities
  • Own, publish, and defend the multi-year product strategy and roadmap for the Marcura Compliance portfolio, directing investment toward the highest-return opportunities using measured customer usage, billing, and competitive evidence.
  • Define and continuously prioritize the product backlog across the compliance platform and customer-facing applications, maintaining a single ranked roadmap and declining work that does not meet the bar.
  • Grow established revenue lines, including KYB onboarding, continuous screening and monitoring, and due diligence reporting, to meet agreed ARR targets by identifying and closing scope, coverage, and volume expansion in named accounts with Sales and Customer Success.
  • Lead introduction of new propositions, including the Counterparty Passport directory and embedded compliance across Marcura business units, carrying each from business case through pilot to first paying customers against agreed dates.
  • Own pricing and packaging for the portfolio, maintaining an evidenced rate card and testing proposed changes against realized prices before presenting them to the business.
  • Translate regulatory obligations and customer risk policy into product requirements by working with compliance specialists, customer compliance teams, and external counsel where required.
  • Act as the senior product voice with enterprise customers, prospects, and partners by running discovery, demonstrations, workshops, and executive reviews, and support Sales through complex compliance-led deals.

  • Establish, instrument, and report portfolio success measures, including adoption, retention, revenue, KYB turnaround time, policy completeness, screening accuracy, time to decision, and false-positive rate, publishing a regular self-service view.
  • Mentor less experienced product colleagues and improve discovery, prioritization, launch, and post-launch review practices across the compliance function.
Desired Qualifications
  • Maritime, shipping, commodity trading, or trade finance experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience with AI or large language model-assisted compliance automation, including document extraction, adverse media, entity resolution, or risk scoring, is a plus.
  • Training or practical exposure to AI and large language model product development, particularly applied to compliance automation, is a plus.

Veson Nautical, Marcura to streamline demurrage management.

Veson Nautical, Marcura to streamline demurrage management. October 8, 2026 (C) Veson Nautical/Marcura Veson Nautical and Marcura announced an expanded partnership that connects Marcura Claims, Marcura's platform for laytime and demurrage management, with IMOS, Veson's flagship solution for commercial freight contract management and voyage execution, giving joint clients more options for managing demurrage claims. Organizations in today's markets operate a variety of unique workflows, especially when it comes to demurrage management. To meet teams' distinct needs, operators and charterers can manage demurrage claims using the claims capabilities within the Veson Platform, or through the new connection with Marcura Claims. Marcura's port cost management solution DA-Desk has been integrated with IMOS for more than 10 years, seamlessly bringing port costs directly to the voyage P&L. The new integration connects IMOS voyage data with Marcura Claims and is free to all joint IMOS Claims module clients and Marcura Claims customers. Marcura Claims pulls voyage details from IMOS, so teams know when a claim can be initiated. Once a claim has been processed in Marcura Claims, the system automatically creates a corresponding claim in IMOS, including full laytime calculations and voyage status. Together, IMOS and Marcura Claims have created a faster, more automated workflow that reduces potential errors and gives teams more time to prioritize the aspects of the claim that actually impact voyage P&L.

Marcura closes procurement-to-payment loop with new platform.

Marcura closes procurement-to-payment loop with new platform. 22 2 minutes read Dubai-based maritime technology group Marcura has launched an end-to-end procure-to-pay platform, bringing its ShipServ procurement network, invoice processing, compliance and MarTrust payments into a single workflow. The new Procure-to-Pay solution covers the process from supplier onboarding and purchasing through invoice validation, approvals and final settlement, with Marcura looking to tackle the fragmented systems still used by many shipowners and managers across procurement and finance. The launch is the clearest integration yet of ShipServ since Marcura acquired the maritime procurement platform in 2023. ShipServ today connects more than 11,000 vessels and provides the procurement layer for the new offering. Procure-to-Pay gives suppliers a single verified profile across Marcura and combines bank account verification with sanctions screening. Active suppliers are subsequently re-screened daily. Invoices are processed using AI-based data extraction and four-way matching against purchase orders, delivery notes and goods receipts, with anomaly detection used to flag discrepancies before payment. Once approved, payments are handled through Marcura's regulated fintech arm MarTrust, with the platform selecting payment rails and providing payment status back into the same workflow. Marcura said payments can be settled in more than 130 currencies, with 99% succeeding on the first attempt. "Marcura sits across every stage of the workflow from procurement and supplier collaboration through to compliance, fraud checks and payment execution," said group chief executive Henrik Hyldahn. "That vantage point is what let us see how much this gap was costing our customers and build something that closes it end to end rather than patching one part of the process." The platform also maintains a single audit trail covering the process from purchase order through to settlement. Marcura said it has prevented $14m in attempted fraud since 2014 through its compliance processes, which include counterparty, sanctions, ownership and bank account checks. The new system is already being used across a 120-vessel fleet and is being introduced to Marcura customers during SMM in Hamburg this week ahead of a wider rollout. Marcura bought ShipServ for an undisclosed sum three years ago in a deal designed from the outset to combine the procurement platform with Marcura's payments and compliance capabilities. The group has continued to expand since then, adding vessel management software specialist VesselMan and claims businesses HubSE and Shipdem to its portfolio. Earlier this year Marcura also launched a dedicated husbandry platform targeting procurement and cost control around non-commercial port calls.

Image Credit: Marcura Marcura has acquired the business assets of US-based demurrage and marine claims specialist Fairway Maritime LLC. The acquisition strengthens Marcura's demurrage management business in the US while adding specialist expertise across tanker, inland barge and commodity trading markets, as per an emailed press release on Tuesday. Founded in 2005, Fairway manages demurrage, deviation, detention, shifting and other marine reimbursement claims for shipowners, vessel pools, refiners and commodity traders in the US and Europe. Fairway will be integrated into Marcura Claims, with its analysts continuing to support existing customers while contributing to Marcura's wider claims portfolio. Marcura said the acquisition follows its purchases of HubSE and Shipdem, making Marcura Claims the industry's largest laytime processor by volume. Fairway Managing Partner Tom Black will remain with the company in an advisory role. Marcura's technology platform puts AI to work where it adds the most value, taking on more of the heavy lifting in a claim: reading documents, extracting clauses, and standardising calculations," Henrik Hyldahn, Group CEO of Marcura, said. Research finds maritime professionals rejecting full AI adoption

Research finds maritime professionals rejecting full AI adoption. A recent study by Thetius in partnership with Marcura, has revealed maritime companies are stuck in the early stages of AI adoption, unable to scale beyond small experiments as widespread optimism collides with implementation reality. The study "Beyond the Hype: What the maritime industry really thinks about AI" combined over 130 survey responses and in-depth interviews with maritime professionals, revealing a sector that is both eager and cautious: 82% are optimistic about AI and 81% are running pilot projects. However, 37% have personally witnessed AI failures and only 11% have formal policies to guide scaling. Perceived risks and opportunities. * 97% believe that AI is useful or extremely useful for reducing manual workflow inefficiencies * 85% say that AI is useful or extremely useful for identifying risky voyage decisions and red flags in voyage profitability * 69% are concerned about poor business outcomes if AI solutions miss critical red flags in contracts or voyage planning * 66% worry that overreliance on the technology could lead to a reduction in human skills and oversight * 61% feel that cybersecurity and data breach vulnerabilities are the biggest risks for them in implementing AI in maritime operations * 37% have witnessed AI projects failing or causing harm * 23% feel that vendors are generally untrustworthy, offering too much hype and insufficient results. According to the study despite their general enthusiasm for AI, maritime professionals overwhelmingly reject full automation. As explained, 70% believe AI should recommend actions but humans should always make the final decision, while 66% are concerned about overreliance on the technology eroding human skills and judgement. Additionally, the study identified inadequate training as the biggest barrier to scaling, cited by 38% of respondents. The governance gap is equally stark: while 81% run pilots, only 17% have transparent processes for how AI makes decisions within their organisations. Nearly a quarter express concerns about vendor claims outpacing real-world results. Concerns such as data privacy and cybersecurity are also significant, with 61% citing them as major risks. Strong data governance and ownership frameworks are needed before organisations feel ready to scale. High- quality data is also critical to success. The rapid shift in AI adoption. Companies are using AI in areas such as navigation automation and cargo operations. But according to Theofano Somaripa, CIO at Newport SA, many smaller and medium- sized ones are not yet ready to fully adopt or scale AI. According to the research, financial constraints, lack of digital transformation strategies, staff readiness, and concerns over data privacy and transparency are blockers to scaling AI. One of the reasons for maritime's rapid adoption of AI when historically it has been fairly slow to embrace new technologies, is the increasing pressure for companies to show they are committed to advancing technologies and keeping pace with industry leaders. Another reason for the accelerated maturity curve is due to vendor relationships. Companies that have used solutions from one vendor may be more inclined to adopt AI enhancements built on top of those foundations. This is because they have not only built trust with that vendor but also because their data is already digitised and adding AI is the next natural step. Furthermore, vertical AI is building trust and maturity faster. Due to it being built for the industry's specific needs, it delivers faster time-to-value, enabling companies to progress from pilots to deployment more quickly and with greater confidence. "The best AI functions like a co- pilot, not a replacement, providing insights but always leaving the final decision up to the professional who understands the full context. As seen in some legal cases, relying on AI without human oversight can cause errors and even cross into professional misconduct," said Janani Yagnamurthy, VP Analytics, Marcura. Key recommendations. * Invest in tools specifically for maritime * Foster agency and discernment * Keep the human in the loop to harness trust * Engage with emotions, not just system * Implement governance frameworks * Demand transparency and real-world impact from vendors * Encourage experimentation
