Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Health Care Administration, or another healthcare-related field is required.
  • A Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality credential or the ability to sit for the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality examination within two years of accepting the position is required.
Responsibilities
  • Design, manage, and execute organization-wide quality and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Collect, submit, analyze, and report results to regulatory bodies, including The Joint Commission, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Illinois Public Health Association, and the Patient Safety Organization, as assigned by the Director.
  • Lead and facilitate quality and patient safety teams using problem-solving methodologies such as root cause analysis, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Plan-Do-Study-Act, and Kaizen events.
  • Coordinate participation, team selection, and rapid-cycle change through external collaborative improvement projects with organizations such as the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, the Illinois Health and Hospital Association, and the Illinois Foundation for Quality Healthcare.
  • Consult with department managers and medical staff regarding key performance indicator outcomes, improvement opportunities, and recommended best practices.
  • Develop and implement organization-wide educational programs in quality and performance improvement, including new employee orientation, and provide individual or group consultation as requested.
  • Report results, analysis, and action plans to designated Medical Staff and Board committees.
  • Serve as a liaison for performance improvement and patient safety activities among medical staff, administration, department managers, facilitators, and other employees.
Desired Qualifications
  • Healthcare or prior quality/process improvement experience.
  • Certification in Patient Safety, an Institute for Healthcare Improvement Fellowship, or Lean certification.
  • Substantial knowledge of performance improvement theory, statistical analysis, and healthcare regulatory standards.
  • Experience using Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and an electronic medical record system.
