- A minimum of three years of experience working under a refrigeration license.
- A New York City Fire Department refrigeration license.
- A New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Compressed Gases G-17/G-71 within probation.
- A New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Fireguard F-60 within probation.
- A New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Torch Use of Flammable Gases G-60 within probation.
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Ensure the operation and provision of utility services, including heat, water, and air conditioning, on a 24-hour basis.
- Monitor the boiler room, chiller plant, pumps, emergency generators, and auxiliary equipment to ensure efficient operation and safety.
- Make emergency mechanical and electrical repairs to prevent or stop interruptions of utility services.
- Assist in testing emergency generators as required.
- Monitor associated equipment during the assigned watch.
- Monitor chiller operations.
- Inspect bulk gas systems and replace tanks as needed.
- Adjust major air-conditioning units and heating systems according to operational needs to maintain proper temperature.
- Check exhaust and supply fans for proper ventilation.
- Maintain a daily log of unusual conditions arising during the shift.
- Operate and respond to alarms for the HVAC central control system.
- Rotate between day and night shifts according to the assigned schedule.
