Nestlé accelerates growth as volumes return.

Nestlé accelerates growth as volumes return. The Swiss food giant has reported quarterly sales above expectations, driven by a sharp acceleration in real internal growth. Nestlé is notably benefiting from the momentum of its pet care and culinary products businesses, while emerging markets continue to support business. Published on 10/22/2026 at 03:48 am EDT MarketScreener.com Nestlé generated sales of CHF 22.76bn in Q3 2026, compared with CHF 21.64bn a year earlier. Organic growth reached 4%, exceeding the consensus of 3.4%. The increase was driven mainly by real internal growth of 2.8%, up from 1.8% in Q2, while pricing effects slowed to 1.1%. Currency movements also made a positive contribution of 1.5%. For the first nine months of the year, organic growth came to 3.7%, including 1.9% in real internal growth and 1.8% from pricing. The group said that improving volumes and product mix now extend across all of its geographic regions and global businesses. In the press release, Philipp Navratil said, "our priority is to create value, execute our strategy with rigor and discipline, and pursue sustainable growth driven by real internal growth". Purina and culinary products drive growth Pet care products posted organic growth of 5.3%, supported by real internal growth of 4.3% and particularly strong demand for cat food. Culinary products and snacks rose 5%, driven in particular by confectionery in the Americas and improving frozen food sales in the United States. Coffee recorded organic growth of 3.4%, despite a high comparison basis. In the US, volumes are gradually recovering after price increases were applied to the Starbucks and Nescafé brands. Nutrition, however, continues to lag, with growth limited to 0.3%, still affected by the consequences of the infant formula recall. Geographically, emerging markets stood out with organic growth of 6.8%, compared with 2.2% in developed markets. The Asia, Oceania and Africa region posted growth of 6.4%. Nestlé's operations in the Russian Federation are no longer consolidated as of the end of September 2026. This would have had no impact on Q3 sales and a limited financial impact on recurring earnings in 2026. Full-year targets confirmed At the same time, Nestlé is continuing its strategic refocusing, including the announced sale of its consumer vitamins and supplements business for $1bn. The group confirmed its 2026 guidance, targeting organic growth of between 3% and 4%, an improvement in its recurring operating profit margin and free cash flow of more than CHF 9bn. Texas sues Gerber over heavy metals in baby food.

Texas sues Gerber over heavy metals in baby food. By Millie Foster October 20, 2026 Texas has filed a lawsuit against Nestlé's Gerber baby food brand, alleging that its products contained hazardous levels of arsenic, lead, and cadmium between 2017 and 2019. Attorney General Ken Paxton is demanding more than $10 million in fines, claiming the company misled consumers about safety risks despite internal knowledge of contamination. The legal action, filed in Texas district court, asserts that Gerber did not strengthen safety protocols after a 2021 congressional inquiry exposed raised heavy metal levels in baby foods. Testing by Consumer Reports in September showed reductions in contamination, but some Gerber products still exceeded safe thresholds for inorganic arsenic. The brand states it has consistently worked to reduce heavy metals, acknowledging they cannot be entirely removed from food sources. A company representative emphasized rigorous testing, supplier oversight, and quality controls to limit contamination risks. Gerber also complies with California law by providing QR code-linked test results on packaging. Heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, and cadmium frequently appear naturally in soil and can infiltrate crops used in baby food. Contamination may also arise from agricultural or manufacturing processes. The lawsuit against Gerber comes as part of broader regulatory scrutiny over food safety assurances. Paxton, who is also seeking the U.S. Senate seat, has positioned his enforcement efforts under a Make America Healthy Again initiative that has drawn bipartisan backing. His office has examined other manufacturers regarding artificial additives and ingredient labeling, including disputes over avocado oil. Paxton's office has cited internal Gerber documents to support claims that the company knew of contamination risks but failed to act decisively.

Nestlé enters market for healthy aging.

Nestlé enters market for healthy aging. Nestlé expands its business with nutritional supplements. 19.10.2026 01:26 The food company is launching under the Solgar brand a new premium product line for middle-aged and older people. Nestlé aims to benefit from the growing market for healthy aging. The Solgar Prime product line is due to launch in the US and Europe later in 2026, as Nestlé announced on Monday. Expansion into Asia is planned for 2027. The range includes a creatine powder to support muscle strength and mobility, as well as a preparation with biotin and zinc for hair growth. Creatine is known primarily from strength training. The substance helps muscles rapidly provide new energy during physical exertion, explains Nestlé researcher Philipp Gut in a video. "However, the role of creatine goes far beyond sport." With the launch, Nestlé strengthens a strategic growth area outside the classic food business. The group is relying on the nearly 80-year-old Solgar brand, which is already represented in 65 countries. According to Nestlé, the market for products related to healthy aging is expected to grow at a double-digit rate by 2030. The background is the aging global population. "Healthy aging is one of the most dynamic growth areas in the health market," explained Serena Aboutboul, head of the strategic business unit Nutrition & Health, according to the statement. More and more people want to maintain their strength and mobility for as long as possible.

FSSAI issues notices to Nestlé India, HUL over misleading products and non-compliances; What are the claims?

FSSAI issues notices to Nestlé India, HUL over misleading products and non-compliances; What are the claims? The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued notices to Hindustan Unilever (HUL) and Nestlé India over alleged violations. The regular has flagged two of their products. Updated 17 Oct 2026, 10:29 PM IST The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued notices to Hindustan Unilever (HUL) and Nestlé India over alleged violations involving two of their products, reported PTI. Regulatory authorities have identified compliance issues associated with a specific Horlicks product, as well as approval and labelling discrepancies involving a specialised nutritional powder. FSSAI issues notice to HUL over Horlicks products. The notice from the regulatory involves Hindustan Unilever's Horlicks Women's Plus Chocolate Nutrition Drink 400g, reported PTI. What are the misleading claims? In an X post on Saturday, FSSAI said that notices have been issued to these two companies "regarding misleading claims and non-compliances". "Claims such as 'Nutrition for Strong Bones', 'Clinically Proven to Help Improve Bone Strength in 6 Months' and 'Improves Bone Health' were found to be misleading or non-compliant with applicable regulations," FSSAI said. The claim "healthy muscles" was found to violate regulatory standards governing the use of the word "healthy" in food packaging. Additionally, the "No Added Sugar" claim was also considered misleading due to the presence of maltodextrin in the product, the regulator said. The claim of "100 per cent RDA of Calcium, Vitamin D & K2" was also found non-compliant with applicable food safety requirements. Besides this, another HUL product has also come to the radar. FSSAI has issued a notice for misleading claims on "Horlicks Mother's Plus Kesar 400 g BIB". "The claims 'Healthy Birth Weight' on the product label and 'For baby's healthy birth weight' in the advertisement were found to be potentially misleading and in contravention of the FSS (Advertising and Claims) Regulations, 2018," the regulator said. Claims, such as 'For Pregnancy and Lactation with Protein for Birth Weight and DHA for Brain Development - No Added Sugar' were included as part of the product name on the e-commerce platform, said FSSAI, as per PTI. FSSAI has directed HUL to respond to the notice within the given time period. FSSAI has warned of further action in case of unsatisfactory response. Notice to Nestle India over non-compliances. The regulator has also issued notices to Nestle India, Schreiber Dynamix Dairies Private Ltd and Lotus Dairy Products Pvt Ltd for non-compliance with rules. The concerns are related to its 'Nescafe Ready-to-Drink' products. Meanwhile, concerned licensing authorities and e-commerce platforms have also been asked to take necessary action. FSSAI sought answers from Nestlé India regarding multiple product labelling and approval violations. On e-commerce platforms, "Nescafe Intense Cafe" Cappuccino flavour, "Nescafe Choco Mocha", and "Nescafe Chilled Latte", manufactured by Schreiber Dynamix Dairies and Lotus Dairy Products, exhibited conflicting declarations. While the front of the pack stated "Flavoured Milk", the back declared "Proprietary Food - Dairy Based Drink", raising inconsistency between the physical label and online listings that called them "Coffee Flavoured Milk". Online claims that the drinks were "crafted with the goodness of flavoured double toned milk" failed to match the declared product category, leading the regulator to label them "incorrect". In a different matter, the regulator also pulled up Nestlé India for misleading claims and lacking approval on "Nestle resource renal vanilla flavour powder". Formulated for 'Food for Dietary Management of Individuals with Conservatively Treated Chronic Kidney Disease', the product requires prior approval under the FSS Regulations, 2022, reported PTI. FSSAI confirmed Nestlé failed to obtain the mandatory clearance, "rendering the product non-compliant" with regulatory standards. The brands are yet to respond to the claims.
