Requirements
  • Eight to ten years of civil design, drafting and modelling experience is mandatory.
  • Eight to ten years of civil design and drafting and modelling experience is mandatory.
  • High proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D is mandatory.
  • Competency/expertise in BIM Collaboration tools e.g. ProjectWise, BIM 360 (Mandatory).
  • A Civil Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent is considered an asset for the role.
  • Knowledge of Civil Engineering design and modelling software beyond AutoCAD Civil 3D such as Bentley MicroStation and OpenRoads, Navisworks, Dynamo, REVIT is an asset.
  • Experience with Metrolinx and rail corridor modelling grading design and modelling is considered an asset.
  • Ability to interact with external entities to interpret and understand BIM/CAD requirements and BIM scope.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare civil drawings and details from conception to final design in a 3D modelling environment such as Civil 3D, according to established standards and procedures for a wide variety of sites, including linear utility modelling, site grading and site servicing plan modelling/design, road and rail corridor design and modelling, and transit stations.
  • Drive design phases and implement design standards on rail and transit and linear infrastructure projects of high complexity.
  • Review and prepare models and drawings and work together with Engineers to develop detailed drawings, quantities and various supporting documents.
  • Work in various procurement strategies such as Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build environments to advance civil design packages.
  • Mentor and supervise junior and developing Technicians.
  • Follow BIM Execution Plan and BIM project requirements throughout project lifecycle.
  • Provide support and training to junior and developing Technicians on Civil 3D and project BIM standards and procedures.
  • Adhere to GHD BIM standards and procedures and implement compliance on project level.
  • Provide input into BIM scope, schedule, and budget when required.
  • Perform quantity take-offs.
  • Produce consistent, high quality civil deliverables.
  • Communicate with civil leads, designers, and project team members on a regular basis to ensure effective and timely flow of project information to meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Participate, when required, in advancement of GHD Standard Civil/Transportation Details and BIM Standards including promoting changes, mentor on updates to tools and methods, assisting with training development and lessons learned exercises.
Desired Qualifications
  • Technician/Technologist with Civil Engineering Technology diploma with background in Civil Engineering is considered an asset.
  • Metrolinx and rail corridor modelling grading design and modelling experience is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Bentley software such as Micro Station and OpenRoads as well as other software such as Navisworks, Dynamo, REVIT are also considered assets.
