Cisco Q4 earnings preview: AI infrastructure orders in focus after $9B forecast raise

Cisco Systems reports fiscal fourth-quarter earnings after Wednesday's close, with analysts expecting revenue of $16.83 billion and adjusted earnings of $1.17 per share. The focus is on whether AI infrastructure demand can maintain recent momentum. In the previous quarter, revenue rose 12% year over year to $15.84 billion, whilst networking revenue jumped 25% to $8.82 billion. Cisco raised its full-year AI infrastructure order forecast to $9 billion from $5 billion after orders reached $5.3 billion through the first three quarters. The company previously guided for fourth-quarter revenue of $16.7 billion to $16.9 billion and adjusted earnings per share of $1.16 to $1.18. Saudi Aramco backs India's Mitti Labs with $9.5M to cut rice farming water use across Asia

Mitti Labs, a New York and Bengaluru-based climate-tech startup, has raised $9.5 million in a Series A round led by Aramco Ventures to tackle water use and methane emissions in Asia's rice farming. Other investors include Lightspeed India, Godrej Industries Group, Cisco, Francis Family Fund, and Volta Circle. The startup's GeoAI platform combines satellite imagery with field data to create digital twins of rice fields, monitoring crop conditions and emissions across smallholder farms. Co-founder Xavier Laguarta said the company's edge lies in proprietary datasets used to train AI models. Mitti Labs has grown from 8,000 farmers in 2024 to over 100,000 this season across Indian states. The platform helps farmers reduce water use by 40% and methane emissions by over 50% whilst generating carbon credits. The startup plans to launch in the Philippines this year before expanding into Indonesia and Southeast Asia in 2027.

Eliyan raises $145M at $1B valuation to solve AI chip data bottlenecks

Eliyan, a Santa Clara-based startup developing technology to reduce data transfer bottlenecks between AI chips, has raised $145 million at a $1 billion valuation. The Series C round was led by Seligman Ventures, with participation from Cisco Systems, Lumentum, and other investors. The company addresses a critical issue in AI computing: chips can process data much faster than they can send or receive it, leaving expensive hardware idle. CEO Ramin Farjadrad estimates only 30-40% of GPUs are being utilised due to data transfer limitations. Eliyan licenses its technology and provides chiplets that companies can integrate into custom processor designs. The startup expects initial chiplet shipments this year and projects hundreds of millions of dollars in sales by end-2027.

Cisco nears launch of AI models for networking ops with Cloud Control platform

Cisco is nearing the release of AI models designed to solve networking problems, alongside its Cloud Control agentic operations tool. Cloud Control aims to address console sprawl by creating a single AI-driven interface across Cisco's product portfolio. The tool will enable users to query their infrastructure and diagnose issues more quickly than current methods. Cisco's deep networking AI model "understands routing and switching configs" and will soon appear on Hugging Face. Cloud Control will become available to US customers by the end of August, included with existing Cisco products. The company is still finalising token pricing but will offer on-premises deployment options. European and Asia-Pacific launches will follow in coming months, delayed by infrastructure and regulatory requirements.
