Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience in a technical operations, DevOps, infrastructure, or security leadership role.
  • Deep hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services, including identity and access management, networking, serverless, and container services.
  • Direct experience with security compliance frameworks including SOC 2, HIPAA, and ISO 27001, including participation in an audit.
  • Strong infrastructure-as-code and continuous integration and continuous delivery skills.
  • Experience operating in a regulated or high-stakes environment such as healthcare, fintech, or insurance is preferred as a strong plus.
  • Ability to work comfortably with ambiguity and make reversible, incremental decisions.
  • Sound judgment under pressure during production incidents.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and translate technical risk into business terms for non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Apply artificial intelligence and agentic tooling to DevOps and infrastructure work, including automated remediation, anomaly detection, capacity and cost optimization, and agent-assisted incident response and runbook execution.
  • Apply artificial intelligence to information security, including log and alert triage, compliance evidence collection, vulnerability prioritization, and phishing and threat detection, while maintaining human sign-off for security-critical actions.
  • Drive organization-wide artificial intelligence enablement for technical operations by evaluating and rolling out agentic tooling.
  • Set guardrails for safe artificial intelligence adoption in a regulated environment, including data handling, auditability, and model and tool vetting.
  • Own the reliability, scalability, and cost-efficiency of the Amazon Web Services-native infrastructure, including Lambda, Step Functions, Kinesis, Connect, Bedrock, and related services.
  • Drive continuous integration and continuous delivery maturity, infrastructure-as-code practices using SAM, CloudFormation, and Terraform, and consistency across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Own observability, including logging, monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes, and reduce mean time to recovery.
  • Manage on-call rotations and runbooks and provide decisive leadership during incidents.
  • Own the security posture of a HIPAA- and CMS-regulated platform, including policies, controls, risk assessments, and audit readiness.
  • Lead SOC 2 and HIPAA compliance programs, vendor security reviews, and incident response.
  • Partner with engineering on secure-by-default practices, including secrets management, least-privilege identity and access management, protected health information handling, and encryption at rest and in transit.
  • Own security awareness training and access governance across the company.
  • Manage corporate information technology, including employee onboarding and offboarding, endpoint management, single sign-on and identity, device security, and helpdesk support.
  • Own vendor and software-as-a-service management, including procurement, licensing, and access reviews.
  • Build scalable, self-service information technology processes appropriate for the company's headcount.
  • Build and lead a small, high-leverage team as the function grows, hiring appropriately and favoring automation and effective tooling over unnecessary headcount.
  • Partner with the Vice President of Engineering, Data Engineering, and Product on shared infrastructure needs.
  • Represent technical operations to the board, auditors, and enterprise customers and partners when needed.
  • Set and report on operational key performance indicators, including uptime, deployment frequency, mean time to recovery, and security findings closure rate.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience managing people or leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience operating in a regulated or high-stakes environment such as healthcare, fintech, or insurance.

Spark Advisors provides a SaaS platform for insurance brokers, with a focus on health plan markets. It offers contracting, licensing, data solutions, and productivity tools to help brokers recruit, enroll, and scale their agencies more efficiently. The platform automates routine workflows and centralizes workflows related to contracting, licensing, and recruiting, enabling brokers to operate with fewer manual tasks. Its differentiated approach comes from long-standing strategic partnerships with brokers (since 2021) that have led to higher enrollments per agent and more contracted agents, implying revenue from subscriptions and partner-based services. The company's goal is to help insurance brokers grow their business by increasing productivity, speeding up recruiting, and scaling operations in a cost-effective way.

What believers are saying

  • Spark raised $25 million in January 2024, backing product expansion and hiring.
  • 2026 AEP plan exits created churn, and Spark's AI flags priority contacts.
  • Spark reported 250,000 enrollments and 10,000 RTS agents exiting 2025, showing adoption.

What critics are saying

  • CMS proposed 2026 marketing enforcement against brokers; Spark sits directly in that blast radius.
  • Medicare Advantage contraction hit 10% of enrollees in 2026, compressing broker economics.
  • If carrier commissions or compliance rules tighten in 2027, Spark's growth engine weakens.

What makes Spark Advisors unique

  • Spark combines contracting, licensing, payments, and plan-disruption workflows in one system.
  • Its Medicare-focused platform targets broker productivity, not carrier underwriting or general CRM.
  • Spark pairs software with service, scaling agencies through 13,000 beneficiary support.
