Requirements
  • Licensure as a State of West Virginia Paramedic and certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic.

Responsibilities
  • Review reports generated by EMS personnel for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with policies and protocols.
  • Conduct case reviews and evaluate 911 communications to measure protocol compliance.
  • Monitor EMS system and personnel performance by reviewing Patient Care reports for correctness and completeness; follow up with EMS personnel to correct errors or discrepancies or provide clarification.
  • Recommend and design quality assurance and quality improvement evaluation methodologies.
  • Analyze Computer-Aided Dispatch data to determine trends in response time and resource utilization.
  • Recommend training updates for individual personnel or the department based on report reviews.
  • Support and assist with initial and continuing education, new-hire classes, and other education or training programs as directed.
  • Collaborate with Medical Directors and Mon EMS leadership to recommend clinical remediation and improvements in clinical standards of practice.
  • Serve as liaison and point of contact for customer concerns regarding clinical matters.
  • Assist with research, including data collection and written reporting.
  • Review and recommend patient care guidelines, policies, and operational procedures.
  • Conduct organizational compliance audits to test compliance with established laws, regulations, company policies, and managerial guidelines pertaining to West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services standards of care.
  • Present evidence-based indicators and standards to measure, assess, and improve patient outcomes, and work with Mon EMS leadership to approve and implement initiatives.
  • Develop, support, and deliver data analysis and services, including dashboards, scorecards, and reports, to measure and trend quality metrics and performance-improvement initiatives and support regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Investigate sentinel events, patient safety concerns, complaints, and deficiencies in standards of care; maintain quality-improvement investigation documentation as directed and recommend post-investigation actions.
  • Maintain the security and privacy of company and patient information in accordance with HIPAA and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collect and analyze data and develop reports, charts, and infographics to communicate findings.
Desired Qualifications
  • Licensure as a State of West Virginia Paramedic and certification as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician AEMT or Paramedic.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, statistics, quality, healthcare, or a related field.
  • Certification and experience as an EMS Instructor.
  • Patient Safety or Healthcare Quality Certification, or ability to obtain it within two years.
  • Three years of demonstrated work experience managing programs for quality assurance/quality improvement, risk management, privacy, and safety compliance.
  • Three years of experience as an Advanced Life Support provider.
