Eagles QB Jalen Hurts out for the season due to blood clots in lungs.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts out for the season due to blood clots in lungs. Posted: Oct 19, 2026 / 08:43 AM PDT Updated: Oct 19, 2026 / 09:05 AM PDT Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will miss the rest of the 2026-2027 NFL season due to blood clots in his lungs. On Monday morning, Hurts' agent, Nicole Lynn, released a statement saying that doctors found multiple blood clots in the Super Bowl champion's lungs. "Over the last few days, Jalen Hurts has received comprehensive medical evaluations by physician experts. In the interest of transparency, we are providing additional information on the diagnosis and treatment plan related to his condition," the Eagles and Lynn said in a statement. "Jalen was initially diagnosed by specialists in London with a left calf superficial vein thrombosis. After further testing and monitoring, the current diagnosis is a deep vein thrombosis, as well as bilateral pulmonary emboli," the statement continued. "He is clinically stable and has no significant functional limitations. His treatment should only involve anticoagulation (i.e. "blood thinners"). During this time, he will not be allowed to participate in any contact activities, including football." According to the Cleveland Clinic, "Superficial thrombophlebitis, or superficial vein thrombosis, is a blood clot that occurs in veins under the skin (superficial veins)." Bilateral pulmonary emboli are blood clots that block and stop blood flow to an artery in the lung, the Mayo Clinic states. Hurts was placed on injured reserve Saturday, two days after the Eagles revealed he has a blood clot in his calf. He missed the first of at least four games in Philadelphia's loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The Eagles said Hurts was injured when he took a cleat to his calf area on Oct. 4 in a game against the Los Angeles Rams. Hurts informed the medical staff of the injury after practice on Oct. 8. The Super Bowl LVII MVP was back at practice the next day before the team left for London to play Jacksonville. Hurts was initially diagnosed by specialists in London with a left calf superficial vein thrombosis. Lynn said that Hurts' "prognosis is very good, and we expect a full recovery." He's expected to return to the field once he's off blood thinners. "In the meantime, he will remain active around the team and continue to condition. More importantly, we anticipate that he will have no long-term effects," the statement said. "We are thinking of Jalen and looking forward to a strong recovery." Hurts hadn't missed more than two games in a season since becoming the full-time starter in 2021. He has led the Eagles to five straight playoff appearances, three NFC East titles and two Super Bowl appearances, beating the Chiefs 40-22 two years ago. Tanner McKee started for Hurts against the Panthers. McKee finished 26 of 45 for 215 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' fourth straight loss, 25-14 to the Panthers. The Eagles (2-4) have lost four consecutive games for the first time since 2020. The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Eagles claim back-to-back NFC East titles as Giants hire Super Bowl winner Harbaugh

The Philadelphia Eagles have claimed their second consecutive NFC East title, marking the first time they've won back-to-back division championships since their four-year run from 2001-04. However, the achievement carries less significance for a franchise now measuring success by Super Bowl appearances rather than division titles. After last season's disappointing playoff exit, Philadelphia made significant changes, including trading wide receiver AJ Brown to New England and hiring Sean Mannion as offensive coordinator — quarterback Jalen Hurts' fifth OC in five seasons. The Dallas Cowboys have focused entirely on defensive improvements after fielding one of the NFL's worst units last season. Meanwhile, the New York Giants, with just two playoff appearances in 15 years, hired John Harbaugh following his departure from Baltimore. The Washington Commanders reshuffled coaching staff after regressing to 5-12, with quarterback Jayden Daniels' health and development remaining central to their hopes.

Philadelphia Eagles and Dunkin' present $25,000 donation to Leveling the Playing Field. Dunkin's annual "touchdowns for Kids" Program helps expand access to youth sports across greater Philadelphia. Aug 10, 2026 at 05:20 PM On Monday, August 10, the Philadelphia Eagles and Dunkin' presented a $25,000 donation to Leveling the Playing Field (LPF), a nonprofit that provides sports equipment to underserved youth across the region. The donation presentation took place at the Philadelphia Eagles' Jefferson Health Training Complex, where student-athletes from local youth football organizations supported by LPF joined representatives from Dunkin', the Eagles and LPF for an official check presentation. Following the presentation, students and coaches enjoyed a special Training Camp experience, including the opportunity to watch Eagles practice, interact with players and coaches, receive autographs, and enjoy refreshments. The donation is part of Dunkin's "Touchdowns for Kids" program, where Dunkin' donated $500 for every touchdown scored by the Eagles during the 2025-2026 regular season. This year, the Eagles scored 48 touchdowns, resulting in $24,000 in donations. In addition, Dunkin' is contributing an extra $1,000 to further support LPF's mission of expanding access to youth sports across the region. With this program, Dunkin' and the Eagles aim to help expand access and equity in youth sports by ensuring every child has the equipment and opportunity to play. The funds raised throughout the season will support LPF's mission to remove barriers that keep kids from participating in organized sports and recreational activities.
