About the job
- A degree or diploma in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related technical field is required.
- Three to five years of experience in automation, systems integration, machine vision, robotics, or engineered solutions is required, with exposure to applications engineering, concept development, technical sales support, or quotation development.
- Strong understanding of industrial automation systems, including machine vision, robotics, controls, and manufacturing processes, is required.
- Experience reviewing customer specifications, developing technical concepts, and preparing quotations, proposals, or cost estimates for automation projects is required.
- Ability to assess technical requirements, perform feasibility reviews, and develop practical solutions that balance performance, functionality, and cost is required.
- Strong communication and presentation skills are required to engage customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders in technical and commercial discussions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and operate in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment is required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities and overcoming technical challenges are required.
- Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites for meetings, site reviews, and project support is required as needed.
- Support business development by preparing detailed and accurate quotations for new projects.
- Act as the primary technical contact for assigned opportunities and participate in site visits, presentations, and project launch meetings.
- Review and analyze customer documentation and requirements, including requests for quotation, scopes of work, and specifications, to develop automation solutions.
- Lead application reviews and prepare professional, well-structured quotations.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to validate concept feasibility through simulations, testing, and design reviews.
- Identify key project components, request supplier quotes, and evaluate technical capabilities and costs.
- Develop clear and complete concepts and written scopes of work aligned with customer requirements and project goals.
- Present quotations internally and externally, explain concepts, and validate budgets.
- Participate in project kick-offs and concept reviews to communicate technical and financial details to stakeholders.
- Build and maintain relationships with customer contacts and key influencers throughout the sales and execution process.
- Review past projects and quotations to identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
- Contribute to creating and standardizing tools, templates, and processes that improve quoting accuracy and output.
- Research emerging technologies to support effective automation solutions.
- Maintain accurate opportunity data in the customer relationship management system.
- Complete timesheets and expense reports accurately and promptly.
- Organize and maintain quote folders, files, and related documentation.
- Experience with machine vision technologies, robotic automation, computer-aided design software, simulations, or technical design tools is considered an asset.
