About the company

NuScale Power develops and commercializes small modular reactor (SMR) technology for carbon-free power. Its main product, the NuScale Power Module (NPM), is a 77 MWe integral PWR that combines the reactor vessel, steam generator, and pressurizer in a factory-fabricated unit, using natural circulation and passive safety, with the whole module submerged in a water-filled pool inside a seismically robust building. The VOYGR plant can house up to 12 NPMs for up to 924 MWe, allowing incremental deployment and licensing-based revenue supported by partners like Fluor and Doosan Enerbility. The goal is to provide scalable, reliable carbon-free power for electricity, district heating, desalination, and hydrogen production, with international projects in Europe and Africa.

What believers are saying

  • On September 1, 2026, NuScale and MillenniTEK fabricated first boron-oxide ECCS pellets.
  • Romania's RoPower advanced in 2026, and TVA continued planning up to 6 GW.
  • NuScale ended Q2 2026 with $1.9 billion cash, funding commercialization runway.

What critics are saying

  • Q2 2026 revenue was $75,000, after RoPower FEED ended in late 2025.
  • NuScale filed an additional $750 million ATM on August 11, 2026, diluting holders.
  • Pomerantz launched a securities investigation on September 17, 2026; a failed first project kills the thesis.

What makes NuScale unique

  • NuScale holds the only NRC-approved SMR design, updated again May 2025.
  • Its 77-MWe modules use passive safety and natural circulation, cutting active-system dependence.
  • The modular VOYGR design scales from one to twelve modules for different buyers.

Amazon's nuclear bet spotlights three stocks: Constellation ($96.1B), Oklo ($5.2B), NuScale ($2.5B)

Amazon's decision to fund 12 small nuclear reactors at a former Indiana coal plant is turning the debate over atomic power into a live commercial test. A major buyer is now committing to nuclear energy for data centre-level reliability. A Simply Wall St screen highlights three nuclear stocks. NuScale Power (market cap $2.5 billion) develops small modular reactors and earned about $11 million from US utility-related activities. Constellation Energy ($96.1 billion) runs a large nuclear fleet and reports about $31.3 billion from generation. It has roughly 920MW of long-term nuclear contracts with investment grade buyers, averaging 18.5 years. Oklo ($5.2 billion) builds 15–75MW Aurora fission plants and recycles used fuel. The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission approved its Principal Design Criteria for Aurora, though the reactors are not yet fully licensed.

Nuclear boom: three dividend stocks yielding up to 5.3% beat loss-making Oklo and NuScale

Electricity demand over the next 20 years is expected to run six times higher than from 2005 to 2025, driven by artificial intelligence (AI) and electric vehicles. Nuclear power is set to help meet it. Small reactor developers Oklo and NuScale Power are risky bets. In the second quarter of 2026, Oklo made $1.4 million in revenue against $74.4 million in operating expenses; NuScale made $75,000 against just over $64 million. Neither pays a dividend. Dividend payers offer other routes. Constellation Energy, which runs the largest US nuclear fleet, yields about 0.5% and has power deals with Microsoft, Meta, and Amazon. NextEra Energy yields 3.2% and plans to buy Dominion Energy. Brookfield Renewable yields 5.3% and owns a stake in Westinghouse.

GE Vernova's 300MW reactor wins first US small modular construction permit, beating NuScale

The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approved Tennessee Valley Authority's application to construct a 300-megawatt BWRX-300 reactor from GE Vernova at its Clinch River site in Tennessee. This marks the first commercial small modular reactor the NRC has cleared for construction. The approval came after a 14-month review, four months ahead of schedule. Ontario Power Generation also received a licence to construct the first BWRX-300 in Canada in April 2025, with construction now underway. Meanwhile, NuScale Power, which holds the only NRC design certification for a small modular reactor, has no firm customer commitments yet. Its shares have fallen approximately 86% from a year ago. NuScale's revenue dropped from $8.1 million in Q2 2025 to just $75,000 in Q2 2026, whilst operating losses grew to $64 million.

Centrus Energy fuels Oklo's $1.2B Ohio clean energy campus with specialised uranium

Centrus Energy has announced a planned joint venture with small modular reactor developer Oklo to support growing demand for specialised nuclear fuel. Centrus supplies High-Assay, Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU), required for most US reactors to achieve smaller designs. Its Piketon, Ohio facility was the first in the country licensed to produce HALEU. The company reported $176.1 million revenue in Q2, up 14% year-over-year, and $16.8 million net income. It ended the quarter with a $4.5 billion future revenue backlog extending through 2040, including $3 billion of HALEU and Low-Enriched Uranium. Recent deals include a $900 million HALEU enrichment award with the US Department of Energy and supply agreements with Antares Nuclear, Radiant, and X-energy.
