The successful candidate is a highly motivated student (BS, MS, or PhD program) in a related engineering field who possesses strong analytical skills, strong technical writing abilities, good communication skills, and has hands-on experience working in a lab environment. In this role, the candidate must be willing and enjoy working hands-on with testing and test coupon fabrication. The candidate must be eager to learn and take on new tasks they may not have had prior experience with. The candidate must have a passion for learning about new materials, new testing techniques, and have a passion for aviation.
What you will do:
- Help author and revise material and process specifications to support Gen 6 aircraft production
- Write test reports summarizing test data and findings from various M&P test programs
- Perform mechanical strength testing on test coupons using Instron mechanical test machines
- Perform thermal analysis testing to determine glass transition temperature and degree of cure for various materials
- Perform cross-sectional image analysis to determine void content of composite parts
- Perform layup and curing of composite prepreg laminates
- Perform bonding for bonded joint test coupons
- Gain exposure to production environment and help provide analysis used to disposition non-conformances
Required Skills/Experience:
- In process of obtaining a degree (BS, MS, or PhD) in a related engineering discipline.
- Preferred areas of study include Materials Science & Engineering, Structural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Preferred Skills:
- Preferred internship experience desirable but not required.
- Preferred experience working in a laboratory setting or a research setting. Strong technical writing skills preferred.
- Preferred experience working with composites and adhesives.
Hourly rate will be $20 USD an hour.
This internship role will be based at Wisk’s headquarters in Mountain View, California and relocation or housing will not be provided.

Must be legally authorized to work in the US
Must live in the US at both the time of application AND at the time the internship begins
Must be either a rising sophomore, junior, or senior in college
Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0, transcripts are required
Must be an enrolled student at both the time of application AND at the time the internship begins
Must be able to work 40 hours a week for 10 weeks (full-time for 3 months)
