Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from a program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education is required.
  • A current Texas Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
  • The candidate must demonstrate leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies.
  • The candidate must demonstrate proficiency using the nursing process to provide care for clients with complex nursing needs and guide and direct others who provide care.
  • The candidate must apply the nursing process at the unit, team, or work-group level to improve care.
  • The candidate must identify potential client problems and take appropriate nursing measures to intervene.
  • The candidate must function effectively in a team-leader or leadership role and use team approaches to identify, analyze, and resolve problems.
  • The candidate must assess, plan, implement, and evaluate client-care delivery consistent with accrediting and regulatory bodies, the Veterans Affairs mission and standards, and Nursing Service goals.

Responsibilities
