About the job
- A high school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education is required, along with the ability to read, write, and communicate in English and perform basic length, area, and volume calculations.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Consult with contractors, consultants, engineers, job superintendents, and others on plans, specifications, materials, equipment, construction methods, practices, and safety precautions.
- Ensure the contractor complies with contract documents and the contractor’s health and safety plan.
- Check that delivered materials conform to contract documents.
- Check contractor layout and verify its accuracy.
- Prepare and submit daily reports of work performed according to CDR Maguire’s and the Owner’s requirements.
- Prepare daily progress reports and maintain progress schedules.
- Check shop drawings and contractor quotations for variations.
- Keep records of quantities and costs of materials used.
- Prepare contractors’ periodic progress payment claims and recommend payment.
- Travel as required around PennDOT District 12 in Washington County in connection with the duties or as directed by a supervisor.
- Utilize computers and common office equipment; follow and convey instructions.
- Wear required personal protective gear/equipment and react to hazardous warnings and signals.
- Perform activities requiring bending, stretching, kneeling, sitting, and standing; lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Infrequently perform manual labor and work in adverse weather conditions; tolerate limited exposure to chemicals.
- Two years of transportation, highway, or bridge construction experience is preferred.
- A Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is preferred.
- NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction is preferred.
- NECEPT Bituminous field certification is preferred.
- ACI/PennDOT Concrete field technician certification is preferred.
- PennDOT/PTC CDS certification is preferred.
- ECMS experience is preferred.
- OSHA 10-Hour certification is preferred.
