Establishing internal IT for AI and robotics R&D from the ground up

Core Responsibility: Maintain and enhance the IT environment to help employees, researchers, and engineers focus on their work, acting as the operational anchor for Corporate IT.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with contract helpdesk staff, network teams, external vendors, and technical advisors to handle SaaS, endpoint, and account management, initial troubleshooting/triage, stakeholder alignment, and continuous process improvements.
Strategic Triage: Move beyond traditional inquiry response by actively assessing complex issues, executing resolutions independently, or routing to specialized experts as needed.

AI・ロボティクスの研究現場を支える社内ITを、立ち上げフェーズから

社員・研究者・エンジニアが業務に集中できるIT環境を維持・改善し、コーポレートITの日常運用の中心を担うポジションです。
派遣ヘルプデスク、ネットワーク担当、外部ベンダー、外部の技術アドバイザーと連携しながら、SaaS・端末・アカウント管理、一次判断・切り分け、関係者調整、運用改善まで幅広く担当いただきます。
問い合わせ対応のみを担うヘルプデスク専任ではなく、状況を整理し、自分で対応するのか、適切な専門家へつなぐのかを判断する役割です。

Background

Currently, our IT department relies primarily on external technical advisors and temporary/contract staff. Moving forward, our strategy is to internalize operational knowledge and daily decision-making, transitioning to an in-house IT framework led by full-time employees that enables continuous improvement. We are now hiring a Corporate Engineer to serve as the core driver of this transition.

Main Duties

Internal IT Support & Triage: Handle inquiry responses, incident management, and initial troubleshooting/triage.
Escalation Management: Address escalated issues from the helpdesk.
Account & Identity Management: Manage accounts and permissions (e.g., Google Workspace).
SaaS Operations: Administer SaaS applications such as Slack.
Endpoint Management: Manage hardware endpoints including Windows PCs, Macs, and smart devices.
MDM Administration: Operate MDM solutions such as Jamf and Intune.
Onboarding & Offboarding: Execute IT provisioning and deprovisioning for employee joiners and leavers.
Asset & License Management: Oversee IT assets and software licenses.
Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with external vendors and internal business units.
Knowledge Management: Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and documentation.
Process Improvement: Continuously optimize IT operations and workflows.

Notes:

Inquiries and escalation handling are expected to account for approximately 30% of total workload.
Cloud infrastructure, advanced automation, and IT strategic planning can be handled in collaboration with external technical advisors.

You will be working with a highly IT-literate, international team that includes foreign national engineers.

Required Qualifications:

Experience Level:

Approximately 1–3 years of experience in Corporate IT, Internal SE, IT Support, or a related role.Note: We value ownership and independent judgment in driving tasks forward over the exact number of years.

Key Competencies:

Advanced, expert-level mastery in every area is not required. What matters most is the ability to take full ownership of daily corporate IT operations.

Hands-on experience in Corporate IT, Internal Systems Engineering, or IT Support.
Ability to perform initial troubleshooting and triage for user inquiries.
Ability to escalate unresolved issues to the appropriate specialist or vendor.
Experience administering groupware suites such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
Experience with endpoint and MDM administration (e.g., Jamf, Intune).
Experience managing SaaS applications like Slack.
Experience coordinating with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
Proven ability to handle confidential information and administrative privileges responsibly.

Expectations & Performance Evaluation

Internal SE (Corporate IT) roles generally span four main domains: Helpdesk Support, IT Strategic Planning, System Development, and Infrastructure & Networking. In this role, we aim for you to cover two to three of these core areas.

Regarding performance evaluation, we are currently designing a framework centered primarily around employee satisfaction (CS/ES).

We currently operate out of a spacious office and research facility of over 1,000 m² located in the Ryutsu Center area. In this space, our business teams and engineering teams work in close collaboration, advancing both day-to-day operations and R&D with AI robots always close at hand. The facility is frequently visited not only by members of the AI Robot Association, but also by engineers and researchers from partner companies and representatives from member companies. As a result, it serves as a hub where diverse experts at the forefront of AI and robotics gather and interact.
