About the job

Requirements
  • Be a final-year engineering-school student or a Master 2 student specializing in mechanics, computational mechanics, structural dynamics, or an equivalent field.
  • Have a strong interest in scientific programming, data analysis, and artificial intelligence.
  • Have mastered or previously used Python in academic or personal projects.
  • Be interested in developing digital tools for concrete industrial problems.
  • Be fluent in French and have a technical, operational level of English.
Responsibilities
  • Understand the studied component and the mechanical stresses to which it is subjected.
  • Explore and prepare the available data and establish relationships between different datasets.
  • Identify the parameters that most influence the observed stresses.
  • Develop in Python a supervised-learning model to predict stresses, and potentially damage to a train component, using in-service measurements, particularly accelerometer data.
  • Select and test the machine-learning methods best suited to the available data.
  • Gradually optimize model performance.
  • Compare predictions with measurements recorded in service.
  • Quantitatively assess the model’s accuracy and robustness.
  • Identify the model’s validity domain and main limitations.
  • Analyze whether the approach could replace certain costly onboard measurements or numerical simulations.
  • Deliver a prototype that estimates the mechanical stresses experienced by a component from accelerometer measurements, accompanied by a quantitative performance evaluation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of machine learning or supervised learning.

About the company

SITES provides structural health monitoring services to assess and extend the life of infrastructure. It uses studies, methods, and monitoring tools to evaluate current conditions, forecast future performance, and guide maintenance for assets such as bridges, tunnels, dams, buildings, industrial facilities, nuclear facilities, monuments, and wind turbines. It differentiates itself through independence from construction stakeholders, a long history since 1984, and a large multidisciplinary team of over 400 engineers and technicians across France and international subsidiaries. Its goal is to protect people and assets by preventing unexpected failures and costly repairs, ensuring safe operation through ongoing, data-driven monitoring.

What believers are saying

  • Preqin lists active investors Siparex and RAISE through 2026, supporting growth.
  • 2026 site data still shows 46 employees, indicating operating continuity.
  • Bari's 2026 New Space Economy events reinforce SITES' infrastructure-monitoring relevance in Italy.

What critics are saying

  • 2024 revenue fell to €23.8M from €28.4M, signaling demand softness.
  • Forty-eight employees generated €5.7M profit in 2024; buyer dependence remains concentrated.
  • If infrastructure spending slows, SITES faces severe margin compression and strategic sale pressure.

What makes SITES unique

  • Since 1984, SITES specialized in structural health monitoring for critical infrastructure.
  • Its 2022 RAISE and Siparex backing validates differentiated engineering capabilities and deal quality.
  • SITES serves rail, telecom, wind, and industrial structures, broadening revenue resilience.
