- A completed degree in computer science or engineering at Master’s/Diploma level, or an equivalent qualification with extensive experience in software architecture.
- Strong knowledge of information security, ideally with demonstrated experience applying the BSI Grundschutz or comparable frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001.
- Strong knowledge of software certification according to DO-178C and experience applying security standards in aviation.
- Experience designing complex distributed systems and applying modern architectural patterns such as layered architecture, microservices, or component-based design with security barriers.
- Deep knowledge of C/C++ development and experience with the Qt framework in complex Linux and Windows operating-system environments.
- Proficiency with Unified Modeling Language, modeling tools, and agile processes, plus experience with threat modeling or risk assessment.
- Experience with modern development environments and tools, and understanding of integration into continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, ideally including security-scanning tools or DevSecOps.
- Ability to identify complex dependencies between functional safety and information security and translate them into technical designs.
- Very good German and fluent English, spoken and written.
- The ability to communicate confidently at both technical and regulatory levels, including audits and certifications.
- Design and further develop a scalable, robust software architecture for unmanned aerial systems while applying security-by-design principles.
- Integrate information-security requirements into the software architecture based on the BSI Grundschutz and relevant cybersecurity standards for critical infrastructures.
- Ensure that software development consistently follows defined architecture requirements and security policies.
- Strategically plan software approval according to DO-178C, perform functional partitioning and separation of software components based on their criticality level, and conduct threat modeling to identify attack vectors.
- Create and maintain high-level and low-level architecture documentation in accordance with aviation standards and documentation requirements for information-security audits.
- Define and secure interfaces between software modules and between software and hardware, particularly to prevent unauthorized access.
- Select suitable technologies, frameworks, and patterns that support performance, certifiability, and resilience against cyberattacks.
- Provide technical support to development teams for complex design decisions and promote security awareness throughout the software life cycle.

↑ 5%The European Investment Bank's €3 billion loan to Airbus has sparked a dispute between Boeing and the EU. Boeing has asked the US government to challenge the loan package, which will fund aircraft research and development through 2030. The first tranche of €1 billion has already been signed. Boeing claims the loan — the EIB's largest ever corporate financing — may violate a 2021 truce agreement between the rivals. US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said his office is examining the loan and has raised concerns with EU officials. The EIB and Airbus both maintain the loan operates on standard market terms. Airbus CFO Thomas Toepfer stated the financing was secured completely on market conditions.
Brisbane startup Wildfire Energy has raised $2 million from Qantas and Airbus through the Climate Tech Partners aviation sidecar fund, alongside $3.15 million in grant funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA). Founded in 2016 and bootstrapped until 2022, Wildfire has developed patented modular technology called Moving Injection Horizontal Gasification (MIHG). The system converts unprocessed waste, including household rubbish, into synthesis gas for generating power, heat and low-carbon fuels such as sustainable aviation fuel. The funding will upgrade an eight-year-old pilot plant near Brisbane to commercial scale. Wildfire plans to expand globally through a capital-lite licensing model whilst helping Australian councils address landfill constraints. ARENA's contribution will pilot integrating Wildfire's technology with methanol synthesis and assess a Queensland facility for converting waste into sustainable aviation fuel.
Atlas Air Worldwide has ordered 20 Airbus A350F freighters, drawing fresh attention to Airbus stock. Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has partnered with Airbus to equip two XQ-58A Valkyrie drones with European AI-driven mission systems for 2026 flight tests in Germany. The collaboration marks a significant entry into the European defense market for the American company. Kratos reported strong fourth-quarter 2025 results, with organic revenue growth of approximately 20% year-over-year and a 1.3-to-1 book-to-bill ratio, indicating new orders exceeded revenue. Axens signs mou with Airbus on SAF development. Axens has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus to strengthen their cooperation in the development and deployment of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The two companies aim to accelerate the scale up of SAF solutions needed to support the industry's transition toward net zero emissions by 2050. Through this collaboration, the partners will engage in structured discussions on technical aspects of SAF pathways to enhance their shared understanding of current and future technologies, reinforcing ongoing exchanges between their technical teams.
