Requirements
  • An advanced degree in anthropology, archaeology, history, architectural history, or a closely related field, meeting the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines under 36 CFR 61.
  • Supervisory field and analytical experience in general North American archaeology.
  • Experience in archaeological research, administration, or management.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion.
  • Ability to speak and write professionally.
  • Familiarity with GPS devices, geomorphological techniques, data collectors or total stations, and geographic information systems.
  • Ability to work independently and travel to field projects and/or CEC offices as needed.
  • Experience preparing proposals, work plans, and change orders.
Responsibilities
  • Manage all phases of historic and prehistoric archaeological investigations, including developing archaeological work plans, conducting fieldwork, analyzing and curating artifacts, preparing reports, and developing and implementing mitigation plans.
  • Manage project teams through environmental regulatory processes and Cultural Resource compliance under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
  • Work with clients, contractors, and local government officials from conceptual and design phases through regulatory review, bidding, and construction.
  • Contribute to the growth of the Cultural Resources Practice.
  • Manage clients, projects, and staff as needed in support of client projects.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with the Tennessee Department of Transportation or other state transportation departments.
  • General knowledge of the Section 106 implementation process of the Federal Highway Administration.
  • Experience consulting with federally recognized tribal organizations.
