Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of job-related experience, including one year of supervisory experience.
  • A valid New Mexico driver's license must be possessed and maintained.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
  • Successful completion of OSHA General Industry training within six months of employment.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate work orders and daily work assignments.
  • Ability to schedule staff and allocate resources to meet departmental goals and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to monitor work quality and ensure compliance with safety procedures and standards.
  • Ability to safely operate custodial equipment, including vacuum cleaners and floor-clearing machines.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools related to custodial work.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to use job-related software, including Microsoft Outlook, Workday, and School Dude.
  • Knowledge of the proper use and care of custodial and cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or move objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally over 50 pounds.
  • Ability to follow basic safety precautions when working around hazards and physical risks.
  • Ability to work with exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect the work performed by the assigned custodial crew, averaging 22 crew members, to ensure consistency, quality, adherence to established procedures, and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to meet department goals.
  • Train employees on cleaning techniques, equipment use, methods, and procedures.
  • Provide input for hiring, performance evaluations, discipline, and terminations in accordance with college policy.
  • Review work orders and organize and allocate workload to maintain balance and meet deadlines.
  • Supervise the ordering, care, maintenance, and utilization of department equipment, supplies, keys, and inventories.
  • Move furniture and rearrange classrooms, meeting rooms, and conference rooms.
  • Perform custodial duties as required.
  • Remove snow from entrances, sidewalks, and exits as required to maintain access and safety.
  • Attend mandatory safety training.
  • Ensure adherence to established policies, procedures, objectives, and safety standards.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
