About the company

Stellaromics provides tools for 3D tissue analysis by reading multiple molecular layers at once. Its Pyxa platform enables three-dimensional spatial multi-omics to map gene expression across tissues. A core component, STARmap, measures thousands of genes in a tissue sample to reveal cellular function and organization in 3D. The company sells the Pyxa platform and services to research institutions and pharma collaborators to advance neuroscience and cancer research.

What believers are saying

  • Commercial placements at Mount Sinai, CNAG, Karolinska, and Stanford validate demand.
  • Leadership hires Veronica Mankinen and John Leamon strengthened sales and product execution in May 2026.
  • RIBOmap and protein co-detection launches in late 2026 expand wallet share beyond RNA.

What critics are saying

  • 10x Genomics, Bruker, and Vizgen crowd out Pyxa with larger commercial footprints.
  • Pyxa still sells through limited Early Access, delaying broad revenue conversion in 2026.
  • If instruments lag reagent pull-through, capital equipment weakness can choke the company by 2027.

What makes Stellaromics unique

  • Pyxa launched February 19, 2026 as first commercial true 3D spatial multi-omics platform.
  • Pyxa images intact tissue up to 100 micrometers, preserving architecture lost in 2D methods.
  • Stellaromics' STARmap lineage and Stanford-MIT roots give it deep technical credibility.

Stellaromics' Pyxa platform installed at Mount Sinai, CNAG, Karolinska and Stanford for 3D spatial multi-omics research

Stellaromics has installed its Pyxa platform at four leading research institutions: Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, CNAG in Barcelona, Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, and Stanford University. These mark the first commercial placements following the platform's launch at the AGBT meeting in February 2026. Pyxa is the first solution for true 3D spatial multi-omics in intact tissue. It captures subcellular detail for hundreds of molecular targets simultaneously in tissue sections up to 100 micrometres thick, revealing tissue architecture and cell interactions lost in conventional 2D approaches. The institutions will apply the technology across neuroscience, immunology, oncology, and tissue atlas research. The placements represent Stellaromics' transition from early access to global commercial availability.

Stellaromics appoints two senior VPs as it launches Pyxa 3D spatial multi-omics platform

Stellaromics, a 3D spatial multi-omics company, has appointed Veronica Mankinen as Senior Vice President of Global Commercial Operations and John Leamon as Senior Vice President of Product Development. The appointments support the commercial launch of the company's Pyxa platform, described as the industry's first solution for true 3D spatial analysis in intact tissue. Mankinen brings over 20 years of commercial leadership experience, most recently serving as Commercial General Manager, Americas at Abcam. She will oversee global commercial strategy, including sales, marketing and support teams. Leamon has extensive experience bringing genomic platforms to market, previously holding senior roles at Meso Scale Diagnostics, Qiagen, IsoPlexis and Quantum-Si. He will lead product development and manufacturing scale-up for Pyxa products and assays.

Stellaromics launches Pyxa, first commercial platform for 3D spatial multi-omics in intact tissue

Stellaromics has launched Pyxa, the first commercial platform delivering multiplexed 3D spatial transcriptomics in intact tissue up to 100 micrometres thick. The platform marks a shift from traditional 2D thin-section analysis to true 3D analysis preserving native tissue organisation. Pyxa is available through a limited Early Access Programme, following a beta programme at three institutions since late 2025, including University of Glasgow, UC Irvine, and Emory University. The platform captures subcellular detail for hundreds of molecular targets simultaneously, enabling researchers to resolve complex 3D tissue organisation and characterise cell-cell interactions across multiple layers. Spun out from Stanford University and MIT laboratories, Boston-based Stellaromics will formally debut the programme at the AGBT meeting in Orlando.

Stellaromics installs Pyxa 3D spatial transcriptomics system at Emory for brain disease research

Stellaromics has installed its Pyxa 3D spatial multi-omics system at Emory University School of Medicine, marking the third beta program site following deployments at the University of Glasgow and UC Irvine. The system will be used in Dr Hailing Shi's laboratory to research RNA regulation in the brain and neurodegenerative diseases. Dr Shi, assistant professor in Emory's Department of Human Genetics, will use Pyxa to study the spatial organisation of the central nervous system at cellular and subcellular resolution. The system delivers high-resolution, multiplexed 3D spatial transcriptomics in tissue sections up to 100 micrometres thick, capturing subcellular detail for hundreds of molecular targets simultaneously. Boston-based Stellaromics is advancing 3D spatial multi-omics technology to enable breakthroughs in human health research.
