Requirements
  • A specialized diploma from an accredited school of nursing is required.
  • Knowledge of patient- and family-centered practice, cultural awareness, effective communication, patient assessment and care, patient and designated care partner education, medication administration and prescription, discharge planning, assessment and diagnosis, and health information documentation is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • An active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice, specifically Pennsylvania, is required.
  • One year of acute care Registered Nurse experience is required.
Responsibilities
  • Use the nursing process to develop individualized nursing plans of care with patients and their designated care partners.
  • Integrate evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, patient and family preferences, and cultural beliefs and values to deliver optimal healthcare.
  • Interact with co-workers, patients, families or designated care partners, and other staff consistently with organizational values.
  • Identify patient and family learning needs and provide understandable education about conditions, treatments, medications, and recovery steps.
  • Follow established nursing practices and protocols to minimize risk of harm to patients and others.
  • Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate errors, and support ethical decision-making.
  • Use data to monitor care-process outcomes and apply improvement methods to test changes that improve patient-care quality and safety.
  • Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams to achieve quality patient care.
  • Provide safe, compassionate, and coordinated care based on patients' personal preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs and values.
  • Create an environment of belonging and inclusion and apply problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Act as a primary preceptor for appropriate staff members.
  • Participate in hospital- and practice-setting-based committees, including safety and quality-improvement committees.
  • Give and receive feedback and integrate appropriate changes into practice.
  • Pursue continued professional learning and development.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in nursing (BSN), completion of a BSN, or an appropriate advanced degree within three years of hire is strongly preferred.
