Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Five to fifteen years of experience working as a Civil Engineer, primarily on transportation-focused projects.
  • Strong project management skills and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and possessing strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • A flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedules to meet deadlines or client needs.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • A valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.
  • Ability to occasionally work on or visit project worksites in an outdoor environment during construction season.
  • Ability to work scheduled and required hours.
  • Ability to lift objects or containers weighing 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Provide professional engineering services, including planning, design, specifications, plans, reports, construction observation, and project management.
  • Communicate with supervisors and project team members by providing updates and progress during all phases of projects.
  • Attend company, project, and client meetings regularly.
  • Contribute to preparing proposals and participate in interviews to secure work for the firm.
  • Think independently and make rational judgment calls.
  • Provide direction to engineering technicians and other team members on the development of project plans and specifications.
  • Understand and follow the company employee handbook and mandated safety policies.
  • Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal, and ethical manner with attention to detail.
  • Work independently and in a team environment.
  • Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs.
  • Travel and stay out of town as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer license or ability to become licensed within 6-12 months in Minnesota.
  • Experience working as a consultant or for a state agency on Minnesota Department of Transportation, State-Aid, or County-Aid projects in Minnesota.
  • Knowledge and experience with Minnesota Department of Transportation Prequalification submittals.
