Requirements
  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Law.
  • Expertise in negotiating financial markets contracts such as ISDA Master Agreements, including IM and VM credit support annexes, GMRA, MRA, GMSLA, MSFTA, FXPB, and the Equities Prime Brokerage suite.
  • A strong grasp of industry netting and collateral opinions, regulatory requirements, and jurisdictional nuances, including IM and VM requirements under various regulatory regimes.
  • Ability to expertly manage a negotiations portfolio, support team members in managing client negotiations, perform supervisory checks for the team, and identify gaps in approvals, drafting, processes, or interactions between systems used in the process.
  • Ability to assess documentation templates, current processes, systems, or approvals and provide workable solutions or alternatives to stakeholders or within the team.
  • Experience managing projects within a clearly defined framework, with emphasis on strong commercial management alongside quality and timely legal deliverables.
  • Strong leadership, communication, time management, and organizational skills with a risk and controls mindset.
  • Openness to flexible work hours.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure Transaction Services and Documentation activities comply with applicable laws and regulations and help manage associated legal and reputational risks.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including legal counsel, credit risk management, and other departments, to ensure transactions are executed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Create, review, negotiate, and manage legal documents such as loan agreements, security documents, and other transactional documents.
  • Provide transaction support, including preparing transaction summaries, conducting due diligence, and supporting other departments as needed.
  • Develop and implement transaction processes and procedures to ensure transactions are executed consistently.
  • Identify, communicate, and provide legal advice on applicable laws, rules, and regulations; monitor changes in relevant coverage areas; and ensure these requirements are reflected in policies, standards, and controls.
  • Contribute to or set strategy, drive requirements, and make recommendations for change.
  • Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies and processes; deliver continuous improvements; and escalate policy or procedure breaches.
  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management, on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls related to the work performed by the team.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of organizational functions to contribute to business goals.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work to support business-aligned functions and remain current with business activity and strategies.
  • Create solutions through sophisticated analytical thinking, comparing and selecting complex alternatives to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Incorporate extensive research outcomes into problem-solving processes.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Draft, negotiate, and execute master and collateral agreements and ancillary documentation for the global Markets client-facing franchise.
  • Conduct diligence, negotiate directly with clients, and engage extensively with credit risk, sales and trading, collateral management, treasury, tax, and client onboarding stakeholders.

Barclays appoints Wee Yee-Yeong to head private bank in Singapore and Asia

Barclays has appointed Wee Yee-Yeong as head of private bank for Singapore and Asia, effective later this year. He will oversee private banking operations in Singapore and lead regional strategy for international Asian clients. Yee-Yeong joins from Morgan Stanley, where he serves as chief executive and head of sales for Singapore wealth management. He brings over 20 years of wealth management experience, having held senior positions at Bank of Singapore, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, UBS Wealth Management, and Merrill Lynch. He will replace Alexander Harrison, who served as interim head. The appointment follows Barclays' launch of its Singapore booking centre earlier this month, marking a key step in the bank's Asia Pacific growth strategy.

Form Energy closes $270M credit facility to scale iron-air battery production

Form Energy has closed a $270 million credit facility to support its energy storage technology development. The facility comprises a revolving credit facility and a tax credit advance facility linked to Section 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Credit. An accordion feature allows the facility to expand to $1 billion. Barclays served as sole structuring bank, with Citi, Jefferies, JPMorgan Chase, RBC Capital Markets, Societe Generale, Stifel, and Wells Fargo participating in the lending syndicate. The financing follows Form Energy's $750 million Series G funding round in August, bringing total equity raised to over $2 billion. Proceeds will fund manufacturing scale-up and working capital as the company produces iron-air battery systems at its Weirton, West Virginia facility.
