About the job

Requirements
  • At least 7 years of product management experience, including full ownership of the product backlog and leading the end-to-end software development lifecycle in collaboration with a team of at least four engineers, delivering impactful and user-focused solutions.
  • Experience working with or building risk platforms, rules engines, machine learning models, and/or decision automation systems, with understanding of how they work and what is required to evolve them safely.
  • A proven track record of bridging business and engineering by translating ambiguous business problems into clear technical requirements and helping engineering teams understand the purpose of the work.
  • A demonstrated track record of directly improving risk and efficiency metrics, such as loss ratio, case handling time, and automation rates, at meaningful scale.
  • Ability to set a compelling vision and strategy for a technical domain while driving rigorous near-term execution.
  • Ability to build trust across business, technical, and executive audiences and navigate competing priorities.
  • Data-driven decision-making and strong analytical skills, including defining success metrics, analyzing results, and iterating with discipline.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to explain complex topics clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Product management experience in insurance, financial services, or an adjacent industry.
Responsibilities
  • Define and own the multi-year product strategy and vision for the Underwriting Platform, spanning its rules engine, risk and underwriting models, and AI/agentic workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to modernize and scale underwriting infrastructure to improve loss ratio, underwriting accuracy and efficiency, and speed-to-market for new risk appetite changes.
  • Influence company-level prioritization decisions for the Underwriting Platform and build alignment across product, engineering, and business leadership without direct authority.
  • Monitor emerging trends in insurtech, artificial intelligence, and risk modeling and translate them into a competitive roadmap.
  • Own the Underwriting Platform product lifecycle from discovery and prioritization through requirements, delivery, and post-launch performance.
  • Lead cross-functional execution of major platform initiatives with Engineering, Data Science, Actuarial, and Underwriting teams.
  • Translate complex business and risk requirements into product requirement documents, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Own and drive metrics including loss ratio impact, underwriter efficiency, model accuracy, and automation rates.
  • Bridge Underwriting and Actuarial business teams with Engineering by understanding business needs and enabling technology solutions.
  • Build partnerships with business stakeholders through consistent delivery, clear communication, and understanding of underwriting and risk.
  • Communicate strategy, tradeoffs, and outcomes to leadership using narratives grounded in data and business impact.
  • Drive the evolution of the rules engine to enable faster, safer, and more auditable changes to underwriting logic.
  • Partner with Data Science to integrate risk models into underwriting workflows and shorten the feedback loop between model development and production deployment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with artificial intelligence and agentic workflow platforms, including understanding how to scope, evaluate, and deploy AI in production underwriting or operational contexts.

Update: As Markets Enter Correction Territory, Fintech Ipo Index Plunges 4.8%

Markets were awash in a sea of red this past week, and the broader gauges, such as the Dow and the SP 500 Stock Index, have touched correction territory, down at least 10% from their peaks. The FinTech IPO Index fared no better through the past five days, sinking 4.8%, and there were few positive returns to be seen among the downdraft. Macro concerns — particularly on tariffs and the as-yet-untold impact of a trade war — ruled the week. Financial sector names were among the hardest hit, particularly those with a presence in crypto markets, and Robinhood’s shares were more than 19.5% lower
