  • Provide verbal and written diagnostic conceptualizations of client symptoms and presenting issues in the context of systemic, environmental, and individual factors.
  • Provide individual and occasional group therapy for children on treatment-plan issues, including attachment, trust, safety, emotional expression, regulation, family relationships, future planning, past trauma, and client goals.

  • Complete DCFS, COA, and Medicaid paperwork, including IM+CANS reports, treatment plans, clinical summaries when needed, and discharge reports; document each child's situation, progress toward behavioral objectives and transition plan, protective factors, presenting issues, and response to treatment.
  • Complete paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Participate in program development to integrate therapeutic principles; engage in training and consultation on the Attachment, Regulation, and Competency framework and Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Therapy, and apply those principles in practice and training.
  • Co-lead bi-weekly milieu trainings with the unit supervisor on practical application of therapeutic principles.
  • Participate in Lydia Home's ongoing training program and conduct assigned trainings.
  • Attend client consultations, staffings, internal agency staffings, and, when needed, Child Family Team Meetings; if unable to attend a staffing, inform Residential Clinical so necessary information can be communicated.
  • Attend hospital staffings for psychiatrically hospitalized clients, formulate and communicate a return plan with the treatment team, and provide therapeutic support to hospitalized youth.
  • Participate in decisions about establishing a client mentor and the initial meeting, and discuss the client's reactions to the mentor during therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate as needed with school personnel regarding clients' emotional and behavioral functioning in the classroom.
  • Obtain releases of information when necessary, such as for schools or probation officers.
  • Represent children at court hearings when needed, presenting verbal and sometimes written testimony.
