Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Wind Turbine Technician.
  • A valid non-commercial driver's license or commercial driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and follow safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision after receiving proper instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving at least one concrete variable in standardized situations.
  • Ability to pass a physical examination and drug/alcohol screening.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 100 pounds, with the required close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment for work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to free climb 300 feet multiple times daily while wearing more than 25 pounds of climbing gear and work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to rescue teammates anywhere in the tower during an emergency.
  • Employees who climb wind turbines must use a Personal Fall Arrest System and may not exceed its 309-pound maximum combined weight capacity, including the individual, tools, uniform, and personal protective equipment; maximum personal body weight is 260 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of wind turbines.
  • Interpret fault reports, maintain power generation reports and service logs in computer databases, and monitor turbine performance.
  • Work independently on electrical and mechanical components.
  • Lead the Lock Out Tag Out program.
  • Support mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems troubleshooting and repairs at a site.
  • Complete work order cards, checklists, aerial work platform documentation, and other relevant paperwork.
  • Recognize wind turbine error codes and report issues appropriately.
  • Replace major turbine components such as generators and gearboxes.
  • Assist with high-voltage system maintenance and repair.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on wind turbines using mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills.
  • Perform unscheduled maintenance by troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Follow company policies, safety standards, and housekeeping practices.
  • Learn advanced troubleshooting and repair of wind turbines.
  • Establish and maintain system safety through the Lock Out Tag Out program.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate's Degree is a bonus but is not required.
