What believers are saying

  • On September 30, 2026, Hormel agreed to buy Brakebush for $1.055 billion.
  • Foodservice posted 12 consecutive organic growth quarters and reached $1 billion quarterly sales.
  • SPAM Hot Honey launched September 14, 2026, expanding premium flavors at retail.

What critics are saying

  • August 27, 2026 guidance cut signaled weak retail and international demand, not a one-off.
  • Brakebush adds $1.055 billion of debt-funded integration risk before fiscal 2028 accretion.
  • John Ghingo inherits shrinking volumes; if retail keeps falling, Hormel becomes a Foodservice-dependent chicken roll-up.

What makes Hormel Foods unique

  • Hormel's Foodservice direct-sales engine solved operator problems through products like Flash 180 chicken.
  • SPAM, Skippy, Applegate, and Jennie-O give Hormel rare household-brand breadth across proteins.
  • Its value-added portfolio and branded innovation separate it from commodity meat processors.

Kimberly-Clark, Hormel and Mondelez: 3 dividend stocks yielding 3% to 5% for passive income

Three household-goods makers offer dividend yields of at least 3%, according to a Motley Fool analysis: Kimberly-Clark, Hormel Foods, and Mondelez International. Kimberly-Clark yields about 4.7%. In July, it formed a joint venture with Brazil's Suzano, giving up majority control of its international tissue business for a $1.73 billion cash payment. It reported $16.4 billion in 2025 revenue, down 2.1%, and about $2 billion in net income. Hormel yields more than 5%. Its dividends have recently exceeded reported earnings because of non-cash impairment charges, though they look covered without those one-time hits. Mondelez yields a little above 3%. It is shifting to smaller packs and premium lines to cope with cocoa costs, and expects relief as 2027 approaches.
