Requirements
  • Minimum three years of experience related to weapon and collateral equipment inventories, issue, return, and management.
  • Direct experience with Navy and Marine Corps Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives regulations, including surveillance, inspection, and transportation of sensitive conventional ordnance.
  • Proven experience as a Lead Petty Officer or Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in an Independent Duty Master-at-Arms or Marine Corps Armorer capacity.
  • Enrollment in the Personnel Reliability Program, requiring high standards of mental and physical stability, ethical conduct, and emotional maturity.
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Completion of Navy or Marine Corps Armorer School or equivalent.
  • Qualification as a Quality Assurance Service Officer or Explosives Safety Specialist.
  • Written and oral communication abilities commensurate with the management role.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to understand, speak, read, and write English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels, Government representatives, and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment, with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand and walk for prolonged periods, and twist, bend, and squat periodically.
  • Current Secret-level security clearance and U.S. citizenship required for the clearance at this location.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure strict compliance with Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives regulations.
  • Maintain 100% accountability of conventional arms, ammunition, and explosives in accordance with OPNAVINST 5530.13D.
  • Coordinate the receipt, storage, and issuance of munitions and small arms; supervise maintenance, cleaning, and functional testing of weapon systems.
  • Enforce physical security requirements for specialized storage areas in Security Risk Categories I through IV to prevent unauthorized access or loss.
  • Support Marine Corps Security Force Battalion range operations and urban combat training by ensuring timely delivery of ammunition and operable gear.
  • Manage inventory records, ammunition condition reports, and quality deficiency documentation.
  • Issue, distribute, receive, and store weapons and collateral equipment as required; conduct inventories of optics, sighting systems, and collateral equipment in accordance with Department of Defense, Marine Corps, and Navy regulations and directives.
  • Ensure weapons are issued to authorized individuals with appropriate weapons cards after verifying qualification and familiarization using the Government-provided roster.
  • Provide a monthly report of weapons, optics, sighting systems, and corresponding equipment, including serial number, model, individual issued, and location.
  • Assist the Government with the monthly inventory of weapons before the end of each month.
  • Assist an independent inventory team with a 100% inventory of armory and collateral equipment at least yearly or as required, and report results using Government-provided forms.
  • Assign work to subordinates based on priorities.
  • Monitor and provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition, coaching, and disciplinary action.
  • Ensure communication flows between upper management and employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
