Requirements
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Certification of graduation from an accredited medical assistant program is required.
  • Display verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to the appropriate exam or treatment rooms.
  • Record patient data before each physical visit, including vital signs, allergies, and medication lists.
  • Obtain necessary patient records as required by the physician.
  • Ensure appropriate consent has been obtained before treatment or procedures.
  • Prepare and stock exam rooms, order supplies, and maintain and control sample medications.
  • Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with examinations and procedures as requested.
  • Obtain blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed while following Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards and universal precautions.
  • Perform laboratory procedures and process laboratory specimens as needed.
  • Follow disinfection protocols to keep exam rooms clean.
  • Practice Standard Precautions, including handwashing and disposal of biohazardous materials.
  • Assist with chart audits for future visits and ensure requested authorizations and medical records have been received.
  • Obtain new patient records and previous test results, X-rays, and scans.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and restock the supply area as needed.
  • Assist staff and team members as requested by physicians, nurses, site managers, and the executive management team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Preferred experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Certified Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience is preferred.
