Responsibilities
  • Greet and room patients, confirm patient identity, and prepare patients for scheduled visits.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, medications, allergies, and other required clinical information.
  • Stock, clean, and prepare exam and procedure rooms for each patient.
  • Anticipate provider needs based on the patient's visit type, procedure, or treatment.
  • Start patient visit notes, update patient information in the electronic medical record, and complete and document the Review of Systems.
  • Document patients' primary concerns and reasons for visits according to established clinical workflows.
  • Monitor provider schedules and patient flow, identify potential delays, and communicate delays to providers and team members.
  • Notify patients about provider delays, provide wait-time updates, respond to concerns, and escalate significant delays when necessary.
  • Assist Plastic Surgery providers with procedures and treatments within the Medical Assistant's training and scope of practice.
  • Prepare patients, rooms, supplies, instruments, and equipment for procedures and treatments.
  • Assist providers during in-office procedures and treatments as directed.
  • Maintain sterile or clean technique according to the procedure and clinical protocols.
  • Assist with patient positioning, comfort, and safety during procedures.
  • Provide or reinforce provider-directed pre- and post-procedure instructions.
  • Clean, disinfect, and prepare rooms and equipment after procedures.
  • Support room turnover, maintain clinical supplies, and notify team members when replenishment is needed.
  • Follow policies related to patient privacy, infection prevention, safety, and clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate with providers, nurses, medical assistants, patient coordinators, and other team members.
  • Assist with stocking, inventory management, organization of clinical supplies, and start-of-day and end-of-day clinical-area responsibilities.
  • Support patient education, clinical photography, pre-operative and post-operative workflows, laboratory specimens, testing, and clinical orders as assigned.
  • Respond to patient messages or clinical requests as directed by providers or clinical leadership.
  • Assist other providers or clinical departments when coverage or additional support is needed.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and process-improvement initiatives.
  • Follow applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, infection-control, safety, and practice policies and procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • Medical Assistant certification or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Previous experience in plastic surgery, dermatology, aesthetics, or another specialty medical practice.
