Requirements
  • A minimum BS or BA degree in business, industrial engineering, distribution, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in distribution or production is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a management or supervisory position is required.
  • Knowledge of industrial engineering, human resources laws and regulations, and employee relations is required.
  • Experience managing other managers is required.
  • Knowledge of commercial and employment law applicable to the position is required.
  • Proficiency with information technology, Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and enterprise resource planning systems is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities are required.
Responsibilities
  • Manage all plant distribution efforts to ensure products are delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure standards for product quality, equipment, and operator performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize capabilities.
  • Ensure fixed assets are preserved and initiate recommendations for new equipment purchases and plant-property improvements.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on operating costs within functional areas, alert management to cost and labor overruns, and implement solutions.
  • Ensure orders are fulfilled according to specifications and quality standards are met.
  • Develop and ensure compliance with quality processes that meet or exceed customer standards.
  • Advise supervisors on labor issues, including safety, security, employee relations, scheduling, and training.
  • Ensure supervisors adhere to company policy and administer practices fairly and equitably.
  • Manage budgets and control expenses effectively.
  • Hire, train, develop, and appraise staff; take corrective action as necessary in accordance with company policy; and consult with human resources as appropriate.
  • Keep current with information and technology affecting functional areas to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
  • Provide consistent site leadership for operations as a key member of the site leadership team.
  • Develop department goals and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build efficiency into operations processes as a change agent to drive yearly productivity improvements.
  • Determine the cadence and operating rhythm for quarterly site operations reviews.
  • Revise objectives and plans in accordance with current business conditions.
  • Provide direction to the Operations Team, including setting and monitoring targets.
  • Plan and manage operating expense and capital budgets.
  • Communicate effectively with sales and other branch departments to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Lead all operations leadership of the division and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including OSHA, DOT, and corporate safety programs.
