ePac and Fujifilm partner to roll out J Press FP790 digital inkjet across 20+ global plants

ePac Flexible Packaging has formed a global strategic alliance with Fujifilm's Graphic Communication Division, announced on October 19, 2026. ePac will deploy Fujifilm's J Press FP790, a water-based digital inkjet press built for high-volume flexible packaging. The rollout begins at ePac's new facility in Phoenix, Arizona, with more of its global network to follow in later phases. The press prints at 1200 x 1200 dpi and covers over 90% of the Pantone® colour gamut. It uses food-safe water-based inks and supports recyclable materials. ePac says the press will raise throughput while keeping its short-run, on-demand capabilities. "We are significantly increasing our capacity and capability to handle larger run lengths efficiently," said Parag Patel, president of shared services at ePac. ePac, founded in 2016, operates more than 20 facilities worldwide.

Fujifilm launches HX1024 printbar for on-demand printing on building products at 500 feet per minute

FUJIFILM Integrated Inkjet Solutions has launched the FUJIFILM HX1024 Printbar System, a full-colour digital inkjet system for printing on construction products such as house wrap, sandpaper, drywall, and laminates. The system prints in a single pass at 400 dpi, in 30-inch and 40-inch widths, at speeds of up to 500 feet per minute (152.4 metres per minute). It uses LED-curable UV inks, and LED lamps cut heat and energy use compared with mercury-based lamps. Manufacturers can use on-demand printing to customise products locally for language and regulatory needs, add serialisation for tracking, and tailor graphics to their brands, said Ankur Mour, vice president and general manager. Liquid-cooled electronics suit demanding factory settings. The printbar supports top, side, and bottom mounting. The system is available now.

Why Fujifilm is investing US$18m in Arizona chip production.

Why Fujifilm is investing US$18m in Arizona chip production. October 16, 2026 Fujifilm is expanding its materials production in Arizona's semiconductor hub, where advanced chipmaking has driven investments totalling $US319bn Fujifilm is investing US$18m to expand production at its facility in Mesa, Arizona, where the company manufactures critical materials for semiconductor production. The investment will support capacity expansion at the plant, which produces chemical mechanical planarisation (CMP) slurries. The company says it also intends to establish new production capabilities to diversify its offering of semiconductor products. Fujifilm expects operations at the extended site to begin in 2027. "As global semiconductor demand continues to increase, demand for CMP slurries - an essential material used in advanced semiconductor manufacturing - is also growing," says Brian O'Donnelly, President and CEO of Fujifilm Electronic Materials. Fujifilm is pursuing this market by investing in its Arizona operations, anchoring its production to a hub of major semiconductor investment. The investment at a glance: * Fujifilm is investing US$18m into its CMP slurry production in Mesa, Arizona. * The company expects production to begin in 2027. * The planned site will support CMP slurry production to cover each stage of chip manufacturing. * The site is intended to bridge Fujifilm's global CMP slurry R&D centre with its production facilities. * The site will support the development of slurries for logic, memory and packaged chips. The CMP slurry market is growing. As semiconductor production scales, the production of materials to support the chip manufacturing process must grow with it. "The advanced semiconductor market has entered a period of significant growth, driven by the rapid expansion of demand related to artificial intelligence," Brian says. CMP slurries are polishing materials used to flatten semiconductor wafer surfaces during the chipmaking process. Smooth, flat wafers are essential to increase precision as chips grow smaller and more complex. In accord with the expansion of semiconductor operations, McKinsey identifies a domestic US supply gap for materials and chemicals to support scaled production. The firm identifies CMP slurry among the materials experiencing significant demand. Fujifilm holds a leading global market share in copper interconnect CMP slurry, which is particularly valuable for its application across logic and memory chips used in AI infrastructure. The company's US$18m production expansion is designed to capture both established and emerging demand. In addition, Fujifilm will add flexible production lines to manufacture materials used across additional processes, supporting the growth of packaged chips. Why Fujifilm is investing in Arizona. Arizona has become one of the most critical locations in US semiconductor manufacturing, home to more than 70 years of semiconductor design, development and production activity, beginning with Motorola in the 1940s. Since 2020, the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) has recorded more than US$319bn in semiconductor investment across the state, including 60 plant expansions. Significant developments include a US$100bn investment from TSMC in 2025, establishing three further fabs, two advanced packaging facilities and a major R&D centre. Intel's largest site is also located in Arizona, and the company has invested US$34.5bn into its operations in the state. The state employs more than 181,900 manufacturing workers, the ACA reports, providing the industrial workforce required to support a complex manufacturing hub. Fujifilm also runs its own global R&D centre for CMP slurries at its Mesa site. By adding production capacity nearby, the company intends to accelerate development for new materials to expand its pipeline. With a dense and well-funded concentrated network of fabs, R&D and skilled labour, Arizona's semiconductor ecosystem is a strategic location for Fujifilm to funnel investment. Fujifilm's growth strategy. The Mesa project sits within a wider growth programme for Fujifilm's semiconductor materials business. In February 2026, the company reported a 29.3% year on year revenue rise for the previous fiscal year. Fujifilm is targeting ¥500bn (US$3.17bn) in semiconductor materials sales by 2030. To support this initiative, it is allocating at least ¥100bn (US$630m) to semiconductor R&D investment from 2025 to 2026. Its portfolio extends beyond CMP slurries to serve different stages of chip production, pursuing growth through its "one-stop solution" approach. Beyond the Mesa expansion's introduction of new lines, the company acquired Entegris' process chemicals business for US$700m in 2023. Its global strategy has seen expansions in India, where a semiconductor ecosystem is growing. In June 2026 it signed a Memorandum on Understanding to assess expansions in Dholera. Fujifilm's 2025 Integrated Report outlines its ambition of becoming the world's most trusted semiconductor materials manufacturer. Key companies. Fujifilm India funds an AI endoscopy study at AIIMS Delhi.

Fujifilm India funds an AI endoscopy study at AIIMS Delhi. The CSR-backed trial will test whether AI assistance helps clinicians spot upper gastrointestinal cancers earlier in routine exams. Published: October 15, 2026 Fujifilm India has partnered with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi on a clinical research study into AI-assisted endoscopy for upper gastrointestinal cancers. The work, funded through Fujifilm India's corporate social responsibility program, will evaluate whether AI can help clinicians detect malignancies earlier and more effectively during routine endoscopic exams. Early-stage gastrointestinal lesions are easy to miss. Their appearance is subtle and detection varies between examiners, so missed or delayed diagnoses are common. AI-assisted endoscopy aims to flag suspicious abnormalities in real time, giving the endoscopist a second set of eyes during the procedure rather than after it. The collaboration is intended to generate clinical evidence on whether the approach holds up in Indian patient populations, where upper gastrointestinal cancers remain a heavy burden. The announcement comes as India's health system increasingly tests AI tools in real clinical settings, from imaging to diagnostics to workflow automation.
