Responsibilities
  • Serve as a role model of excellence in nursing knowledge and clinical practice.
  • Perform the roles of practitioner, educator, consultant, researcher, change agent, and Clinical Guideline Manager.
  • Use clinical practice expertise to serve as a role model for the collaborative practice model.
  • Develop clinical guidelines for high-risk and high-cost patients through clinical pathway systems.
  • Conduct clinical research and assist nursing staff in applying research findings and pathway data analysis results to patient outcomes.
  • Monitor resource utilization to assure appropriate levels of utilization.
  • Assist with the development and evaluation of policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Ensure consistency of clinical guideline documents and hospital-wide policies with recognized regulatory and specialty standards.
  • Facilitate resolution of individual patient care variances.
  • Serve as a patient advocate and resource for complex patient care situations.
  • Practice proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Immediately report mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee, patient, or visitor injury-accidents to the manager.
